MAHILA CONVENTION 2018 – CHAPTER IV – A RECAP
MAHILA CONVENTION 2018- CHAPTER IV combined with Mega
Thiruvathira “Nishagandhi” celebrated on 18 March 18, at Sree
Ayyappa Education Centre, Abhigere Main Road, Chikabanavara
Post, Bangalore was a grand success for the fourth consecutive
year. More than 400 mahilas from 24 Mahila Vibhags participated
in the Mega Thiruvathira “Nishagandhi” event including outstation
Mahila Vibhags from Madikeri, Sullia, Gonikoppal and KGF. The
programme showcased a great team effort, splendid enthusiasm
and unity among the mahilas of KNSS. It was conducted under
the aegis of KNSS Board with participation of more than 1000
members of the KNSS family from all Karayogams, Mahila
Vibhags and Youth Wings.
Programme brief : As scheduled, the inaugural programme
started at 3 pm on 18th March 2018 by hoisting the KNSS
flag by our honourable Chairman Shri Ramachandran Paleri,
accompanied by the General Secretary Shri Manohara Kurup,
Vice Chairman I & Mahila Advisor- Shri V Vijayakumar, Treasurer
KNSS Shri V Vijayan, Mahila Board Representative KNSS Smt
Shobhana Ramadas, Mahila Convenor Smt Rajalakshmy R Nair,
Cultural Convener Smt Shantha Manohar, Joint Conveners and
the honorable guests Shri M Prabhakaran, Programme Manager
Kudumbashree Kerala Mission and Shri Acharya Ajit, Founder
Chairman of VDM India on the move. Great enthusiasm and
feeling of oneness was seen among members present with the
Pathaka vandanam played in the background while hoisting the
flag. This was followed by lighting the lamp by the distinguished
guests. The invocation was rendered by Kum Bhavana,
Malleswaram Karayogam followed by the Acharya Smarana by
Smt Hemalatha and team from Rajaji Nagar. Welcome dance was
rendered by Shri Shanu Mohan and team.
The Mahila Board Representative Smt Shobhana Ramadas then
gave the welcome address. In her address she mentioned with
the insights received from Shri Prabhakaran, the Programme
Manager from Kudumbashree, we mahila vibhags should
be able to form self income groups in KNSS. Chairman Shri
Ramachandran Paleri appreciated the Mahila Vibhags for
organizing the Mega event so enthusiastically. Similarly all the
distinguished guests appreciated the mahilas for the unified
efforts taken in conducting the Mahila Convention Chapter IV and
Mega Thiruvthira in such a grand scale. Smt Rajalakshmi R Nair,
Mahila Convener thanked all the mahila members for the unified
efforts in making the Mega Thiruvathira event memorable in the
history of KNSS. Shri M Prabhakaran, Programme Manager
Kudumshree Mission gave an insight on implementation of
Kudumbashree programme among the Mahila Vibhags in KNSS.
Felicitations : Dr P Sarita Nair, Famous Ayurvedic Doctor,
Ms. Rekha Govindan Kurup, co-founder and director of The
She Stands Tall Project LLP (STTP), Shri Shanu Mohan
Choreographer and Dancer were felicitated for their contributions
in their respective fields. Kum Nithya Raveendran was honored
for rendering the song for the Mega Thiruvathira.
Smt Suja Sukumaran Senior Coordinator, Advocacy & Integration
Support, Enfold Trust NGO Bangalore gave a talk about “Stri
Suraksha” app that was launched on Women’s day for android
phone users.

This was followed by few cultural activities and finally the grand
Mega Thiruvathira “Nishagandhi” by mahila members of KNSS.
Over 400 members from 24 Mahila Vibhags participated including
Mahilas from KGF, Madikeri and Sullia. It was an ever grand and
memorable event which has now occupied a place in the history
of mahila activities in the KNSS. The thiruvathira programme
will be telecasted by Kairali TV shortly. The weather also was
very pleasant for the event to happen wherein Bengaluru had
seen heavy rains and thunders the previous days. Hence with
the blessing of the dieties in favour of the mahilas, the event
was a grand success and appreciated by one and all. The
women behind the Mega Thiruvathira is our cultural convener
Smt Shantha Manohar who has taken lot of efforts to make the
event happen. A very big thanks to the whole team of Mahilas
of KNSS who contributed for the great event to happen and all
the Jt Conveners Smt Sreekala KB, Smt Meena Muralidharan,
Mrs Maya Srinivasan and Mrs. Maya Krishnakumar for all the coordination
with their respective zones.
The proramme was anchored by Kum. Meghana and Kum
Nithya Raveendran, under the able guidance of our Jt convener
Smt Sreekala KB. Our sincere thanks to Vice Chairman I
Adv. Vijayakumar, Vice Chairman II Sri. VR Chandran, Jt Gen
Secretary I Shri K.V. Gopalakrishnan, PRO Shri Krishnan Nambiar
and all the Board Directors, Karayogams, Mahila Vibhags and
Youth Wings for all the moral support rendered in making the event
memorable. Our special thanks to Shri Satish, MMET Treasurer
for the sound system. Our sincere and special thanks to Shri
Raghunathan Pillai, President T Dasarahalli Karayogam and
the whole team for all the support rendered in management of
stage arrangements. We also thank the Office bearers of Shri
Ayyappa Education Trust for giving us the space at the school
premises for conducting the event in such a grand scale. We also
thank the directors of MMECT school , Rithi Jewellery, Bhima
Jewellery, INS Steel Works, and all the Karayogams for the liberal
sponsorships.
The program concluded at 6.30pm with National Anthem as
scheduled, adding a feather on the cap of the Mahila Vibhgs
for the fourth consecutive year, We thank Shri Ramachandran
Paleri, Gen Secretary Shri Manohara Kurup and the whole team
for the all the support rendered in making the event successful.
Once again we thank all the Mahila Vibhags for the unified
support in making the event memorable marking a golden place
in the history of KNSS.
