MAHILA CONVENTION <strong>2018</strong>- CHAPTER IV combined with Mega<br />

Thiruvathira “Nishagandhi” celebrated on 18 <strong>March</strong> 18, at Sree<br />

Ayyappa Education Centre, Abhigere Main Road, Chikabanavara<br />

Post, Bangalore was a grand success for the fourth consecutive<br />

year. More than 400 mahilas from 24 Mahila Vibhags participated<br />

in the Mega Thiruvathira “Nishagandhi” event including outstation<br />

Mahila Vibhags from Madikeri, Sullia, Gonikoppal and KGF. The<br />

programme showcased a great team effort, splendid enthusiasm<br />

and unity among the mahilas of <strong>KNSS</strong>. It was conducted under<br />

the aegis of <strong>KNSS</strong> Board with participation of more than 1000<br />

members of the <strong>KNSS</strong> family from all Karayogams, Mahila<br />

Vibhags and Youth Wings.<br />

Programme brief : As scheduled, the inaugural programme<br />

started at 3 pm on 18th <strong>March</strong> <strong>2018</strong> by hoisting the <strong>KNSS</strong><br />

flag by our honourable Chairman Shri Ramachandran Paleri,<br />

accompanied by the General Secretary Shri Manohara Kurup,<br />

Vice Chairman I & Mahila Advisor- Shri V Vijayakumar, Treasurer<br />

<strong>KNSS</strong> Shri V Vijayan, Mahila Board Representative <strong>KNSS</strong> Smt<br />

Shobhana Ramadas, Mahila Convenor Smt Rajalakshmy R Nair,<br />

Cultural Convener Smt Shantha Manohar, Joint Conveners and<br />

the honorable guests Shri M Prabhakaran, Programme Manager<br />

Kudumbashree Kerala Mission and Shri Acharya Ajit, Founder<br />

Chairman of VDM India on the move. Great enthusiasm and<br />

feeling of oneness was seen among members present with the<br />

Pathaka vandanam played in the background while hoisting the<br />

flag. This was followed by lighting the lamp by the distinguished<br />

guests. The invocation was rendered by Kum Bhavana,<br />

Malleswaram Karayogam followed by the Acharya Smarana by<br />

Smt Hemalatha and team from Rajaji Nagar. Welcome dance was<br />

rendered by Shri Shanu Mohan and team.<br />

The Mahila Board Representative Smt Shobhana Ramadas then<br />

gave the welcome address. In her address she mentioned with<br />

the insights received from Shri Prabhakaran, the Programme<br />

Manager from Kudumbashree, we mahila vibhags should<br />

be able to form self income groups in <strong>KNSS</strong>. Chairman Shri<br />

Ramachandran Paleri appreciated the Mahila Vibhags for<br />

organizing the Mega event so enthusiastically. Similarly all the<br />

distinguished guests appreciated the mahilas for the unified<br />

efforts taken in conducting the Mahila Convention Chapter IV and<br />

Mega Thiruvthira in such a grand scale. Smt Rajalakshmi R Nair,<br />

Mahila Convener thanked all the mahila members for the unified<br />

efforts in making the Mega Thiruvathira event memorable in the<br />

history of <strong>KNSS</strong>. Shri M Prabhakaran, Programme Manager<br />

Kudumshree Mission gave an insight on implementation of<br />

Kudumbashree programme among the Mahila Vibhags in <strong>KNSS</strong>.<br />

Felicitations : Dr P Sarita Nair, Famous Ayurvedic Doctor,<br />

Ms. Rekha Govindan Kurup, co-founder and director of The<br />

She Stands Tall Project LLP (STTP), Shri Shanu Mohan<br />

Choreographer and Dancer were felicitated for their contributions<br />

in their respective fields. Kum Nithya Raveendran was honored<br />

for rendering the song for the Mega Thiruvathira.<br />

Smt Suja Sukumaran Senior Coordinator, Advocacy & Integration<br />

Support, Enfold Trust NGO Bangalore gave a talk about “Stri<br />

Suraksha” app that was launched on Women’s day for android<br />

phone users.<br />

This was followed by few cultural activities and finally the grand<br />

Mega Thiruvathira “Nishagandhi” by mahila members of <strong>KNSS</strong>.<br />

Over 400 members from 24 Mahila Vibhags participated including<br />

Mahilas from KGF, Madikeri and Sullia. It was an ever grand and<br />

memorable event which has now occupied a place in the history<br />

of mahila activities in the <strong>KNSS</strong>. The thiruvathira programme<br />

will be telecasted by Kairali TV shortly. The weather also was<br />

very pleasant for the event to happen wherein Bengaluru had<br />

seen heavy rains and thunders the previous days. Hence with<br />

the blessing of the dieties in favour of the mahilas, the event<br />

was a grand success and appreciated by one and all. The<br />

women behind the Mega Thiruvathira is our cultural convener<br />

Smt Shantha Manohar who has taken lot of efforts to make the<br />

event happen. A very big thanks to the whole team of Mahilas<br />

of <strong>KNSS</strong> who contributed for the great event to happen and all<br />

the Jt Conveners Smt Sreekala KB, Smt Meena Muralidharan,<br />

Mrs Maya Srinivasan and Mrs. Maya Krishnakumar for all the coordination<br />

with their respective zones.<br />

The proramme was anchored by Kum. Meghana and Kum<br />

Nithya Raveendran, under the able guidance of our Jt convener<br />

Smt Sreekala KB. Our sincere thanks to Vice Chairman I<br />

Adv. Vijayakumar, Vice Chairman II Sri. VR Chandran, Jt Gen<br />

Secretary I Shri K.V. Gopalakrishnan, PRO Shri Krishnan Nambiar<br />

and all the Board Directors, Karayogams, Mahila Vibhags and<br />

Youth Wings for all the moral support rendered in making the event<br />

memorable. Our special thanks to Shri Satish, MMET Treasurer<br />

for the sound system. Our sincere and special thanks to Shri<br />

Raghunathan Pillai, President T Dasarahalli Karayogam and<br />

the whole team for all the support rendered in management of<br />

stage arrangements. We also thank the Office bearers of Shri<br />

Ayyappa Education Trust for giving us the space at the school<br />

premises for conducting the event in such a grand scale. We also<br />

thank the directors of MMECT school , Rithi Jewellery, Bhima<br />

Jewellery, INS Steel Works, and all the Karayogams for the liberal<br />

sponsorships.<br />

The program concluded at 6.30pm with National Anthem as<br />

scheduled, adding a feather on the cap of the Mahila Vibhgs<br />

for the fourth consecutive year, We thank Shri Ramachandran<br />

Paleri, Gen Secretary Shri Manohara Kurup and the whole team<br />

for the all the support rendered in making the event successful.<br />

Once again we thank all the Mahila Vibhags for the unified<br />

support in making the event memorable marking a golden place<br />

in the history of <strong>KNSS</strong>.<br />
