A wine estate based in the Southern Rhône in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.<br />
The name Vieux Télégraphe comes from an old telegraph station that<br />
stood on the same hill before the winery was established. The top wine,<br />
the Vieux Télégraphe, is made of a typical blend with Grenache<br />
accounting for two thirds and the rest made up with Syrah and<br />
Mourvèdre. The average age of the vines is 60 years and the wines are<br />
rustic, earthy and complex.<br />

Famous wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, made by the extraordinary<br />
winemaker Paul Avril. Grapes are sourced from 20 different plots of land,<br />
from low-yielding vines to give the best concentrated flavours. They never<br />
use new oak, resulting in elegant but powerful wines. Production is kept<br />
very low at only 1000 cases per vintage making some of the better<br />
vintages sometimes difficult to find. To find the true character of these<br />
wines, they are best drunk with a little age and can even last for decades.<br />
The 2005 vintage won the best red wine in the world in the <strong>Wine</strong><br />
Spectator’s yearly competition.<br />
