<strong>The</strong> South East leads <strong>the</strong> way <strong>in</strong> novel product <strong>in</strong>novation along with <strong>the</strong> East Midlands,<br />

both at 10 per cent of enterprises. Wales and <strong>the</strong> West Midlands results reflect <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

relatively strong process <strong>in</strong>novation with 6 per cent of <strong>the</strong>ir enterprises <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g<br />

novel processes (Fig 56). Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Ireland has <strong>the</strong> least novel <strong>in</strong>novation with only 4<br />

per cent of firms <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g a novel product and 3 per cent <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g a novel process.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are also regional differences <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> extent firms generated revenue from new and<br />

novel products between 1998 and 2000 (Figs 57&58).<br />
