Requirements and Qualifications: ICT staff
with a minimum of high school level training
may take courses for this certification.
CompTIA Network+
Description: this is another vendor neutral
certification or training recognized
internationally and used to validate
competencies and essential knowledge required
to confidently design, configure, manage, and
troubleshoot wired and wireless networks. Some
of the knowledge that ICT staff could obtain
through this kind of training include:
o Network security;
o Wide area network (WAN) connection
and remote access;
o Cables, connectors, and standards;
o Monitoring and maintaining networks;
o Network infrastructure services;
o Network systems design in web centric
data centers;
o Maintain and improve technical
infrastructure based on troubleshooting
problems and developing innovative
solutions;
o Network protocol stack and reference
models; and
o TCP/IP fundamentals
Target Audience: this type of training could
provide further fundamental competencies for
the F01, F03, and F05 ICT Job Families.
Requirements and Qualifications: this
training is ideal for individuals with at least a
certification or diploma in information
technology or equivalent level of preparation.
CompTIA Server+
Description: training provided for this
certification will guide participants on how to
plan, secure and maintain various types of server
equipment that are encountered within the
government organizations. The knowledge base
to include:
o Installation and configuration of servers;
o Server security and hardening;
o Backup and Disaster recovery;
o Troubleshooting server problems;
o Communication management;
o Server maintenance; and
o Installation, configuration, and
maintenance of virtual servers
Target Audience: This training could help
provide the basic skills for technology support
and ICT staff who are involved in computer
network architecture. Network architects design
and build data communication networks,
including local area networks (LANs), WANs,
and intranets. This type of training could
provide further fundamental competencies for
the F01, F03, and F05 ICT Job Families.
CompTIA Security+
Description: This training will provide
foundational vendor-neutral IT security
knowledge and skills for ICT staff in the
government organizations. One of the
strategies outlined in the Training Plan is to
have this certification as a mandatory
requirement for all ICT staff as part of the
transformed GoJ. All ICT staff should have
basic ICT security awareness and training.
