Requirements and Qualifications: <strong>ICT</strong> staff<br />

with a minimum <strong>of</strong> high school level training<br />

may take courses for this certification.<br />

CompTIA Network+<br />

Description: this is another vendor neutral<br />

certification or training recognized<br />

internationally and used to validate<br />

competencies and essential knowledge required<br />

to confidently design, configure, manage, and<br />

troubleshoot wired and wireless networks. Some<br />

<strong>of</strong> the knowledge that <strong>ICT</strong> staff could obtain<br />

through this kind <strong>of</strong> training include:<br />

o Network security;<br />

o Wide area network (WAN) connection<br />

and remote access;<br />

o Cables, connectors, and standards;<br />

o Monitoring and maintaining networks;<br />

o Network infrastructure services;<br />

o Network systems design in web centric<br />

data centers;<br />

o Maintain and improve technical<br />

infrastructure based on troubleshooting<br />

problems and developing innovative<br />

solutions;<br />

o Network protocol stack and reference<br />

models; and<br />

o TCP/IP fundamentals<br />

Target Audience: this type <strong>of</strong> training could<br />

provide further fundamental competencies for<br />

the F01, F03, and F05 <strong>ICT</strong> Job Families.<br />

Requirements and Qualifications: this<br />

training is ideal for individuals with at least a<br />

certification or diploma in information<br />

technology or equivalent level <strong>of</strong> preparation.<br />

CompTIA Server+<br />

Description: training provided for this<br />

certification will guide participants on how to<br />

plan, secure and maintain various types <strong>of</strong> server<br />

equipment that are encountered within the<br />

government organizations. The knowledge base<br />

to include:<br />

o Installation and configuration <strong>of</strong> servers;<br />

o Server security and hardening;<br />

o Backup and Disaster recovery;<br />

o Troubleshooting server problems;<br />

o Communication management;<br />

o Server maintenance; and<br />

o Installation, configuration, and<br />

maintenance <strong>of</strong> virtual servers<br />

Target Audience: This training could help<br />

provide the basic skills for technology support<br />

and <strong>ICT</strong> staff who are involved in computer<br />

network architecture. Network architects design<br />

and build data communication networks,<br />

including local area networks (LANs), WANs,<br />

and intranets. This type <strong>of</strong> training could<br />

provide further fundamental competencies for<br />

the F01, F03, and F05 <strong>ICT</strong> Job Families.<br />

CompTIA Security+<br />

Description: This training will provide<br />

foundational vendor-neutral IT security<br />

knowledge and skills for <strong>ICT</strong> staff in the<br />

government organizations. One <strong>of</strong> the<br />

strategies outlined in the <strong>Training</strong> Plan is to<br />

have this certification as a mandatory<br />

requirement for all <strong>ICT</strong> staff as part <strong>of</strong> the<br />

transformed GoJ. All <strong>ICT</strong> staff should have<br />

basic <strong>ICT</strong> security awareness and training.<br />
