TRAINING MODES
Online, in-seat, and hybrid or blended training modes are recommended as delivery methods for
the GoJ. These delivery methods are used globally, but the use of online and blended approaches
have become extensive for individuals who do not have the resources to participate in a face-toface
setting. This is one area where the GoJ may seek to take advantage.
T
he delivery approaches highlighted in
this catalog are based on the needs of
the GoJ and the nature of the training
that are required. A blended approach
could provide added benefits compared to
traditional approaches. Training available at
some local tertiary institutions may use
traditional in-seat modes which may require the
government and organizations to budget and
schedule time away from the office for these
kinds of training. Blended approaches using
mainly on-line delivery could save the
government in both time and money.
This catalog will highlight the various modes
that the GoJ may want to consider for the
delivery of some of these training. Some training
may be developed through contracting training
institutions to customize programs specifically
for the government and then deliver them in one
or more of the training modes.
Online Training
This mode of delivery includes training that can
be taken entirely by accessing training materials
online or using the Internet. Training offered
using online delivery are sometimes selfsustainable
and require the user to complete the
training within his/her own time. This type of
training is usually accessible at anytime and
anywhere the participant is located. This is
highly recommended for the GoJ.
groups of government ICT staff. This may also
be used in some instances to provide training to
large groups of participants free of enrollment
limits. The GoJ could also take advantage of free
training using this mode.
In-Seat Training
This refers to training and programmes that are
designed for face-to-face contacts. In this type of
training, participants work directly with an
instructor who will provide the training content
and ensures that they meet the learning
objectives and prescribed outcomes of the
training.
This method of delivery is sometimes more
expensive than the other models.
Hybrid or Blended Training
This delivery method takes advantage of both
the online and in-seat modes. By combining the
best attributes of both modes the government
may be able to acquire the desired quality
training for ICT staff. This may be used in
instances when there may be a need to have
participants present in a session for practical
laboratory experiences that may not be available
online or through a cloud-based service model.
Online training may also be used to provide
stand-alone learning experiences for specific
