“What ifs”
To prove where the system might fail it is necessary to ask some “what if” questions in order to
get insights and be able to suggest some possible solutions.
1. Virtual pallet reaction:
1. IBM Watson reaction to a “what if” case:
What happens if the user
calls an object and…
What happens if the user
calls an object and…
The system doesn’t understand
The system understands but hasn’t
the item in the library
The system doesn’t understand
The system understands but hasn’t
the item in the library
System makes an
assumption and pretends
it understood something
else
System lets the user know if
it didn’t understand
The system lets the user
know: “it’s not in the
library”
The system makes
another suggestion
No
reaction
“I don’t
understand”.
I don’t understand. Do you
mean this or maybe that? (Like
google correcting search words)
No action
“The object is not
in the library”
It is not in the library
but here are similar
products. (based on
synonyms API)
The system gives you
another solution/object
without asking
Asks if the
user can
repeat
No action
The system
still doesn’t
understand
83
No action
Makes an
assumption and
asks if that’s
what you mean
Asks to
rephrase
