First Few Hours
CONGRATULATIONS!! No doubt
you'll be tired after the birth, so try
to relax and enjoy bonding with
your baby.
Your midwife will stay with you for
the first few hours after the birth to
make sure that you and baby are
healthy and to help with feeding
and resting.
You will be transferred to the
postnatal ward when you and your
baby are stable. If you are on an
NHS ward, prepare yourself to be
sharing with 3-5 other mothers and
their babies. It can come as a bit of
a shock if you are not expecting it,
especially the noise!
