Caring for your Baby:
Sleeping
Immediately following the birth,
your newborn should sleep
around 16 hours a day (not in one
go!). PLEASE use this time to rest
- this is only the beginning.
Your baby will soon begin waking
more often. They can not
differentiate between night and
day, for at least the first few
months.
Newborns have very small
stomachs that get hungry very
quickly. They sleep in two, three
or four hour bursts until they are
old enough to go for longer
between feeds, and can handle a
sleep routine.
