of the ocean? Dive into deep-sea adventures 

with the Extreme Deep: Mission to the Abyss 

interactive exhibit. Explore shipwrecks such as 

the Titanic, test your skill in gathering lava rocks, 

and so much more! Presented by Evergreen Exhibitions 

in collaboration with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

jellyfish with our green screen photo-op, 

go on a fishing trip in KidSpace with a real boat

Do you have overdue fines on your Gail Borden Library Card? 

This summer, kids and teens can read their fines away! 

1 hour of reading = $5 of fines waived 

There is no limit to the amount of fines that can be waived. Pick up a form from 

any Library location. Reading can be done at home. Forms must be returned by 

August 31, 2018. This program will not waive fees on lost or non-returned items.

To enhance financial literacy opportunities for those in our 

community, the not-for-profit KCT Credit Union will be opening 

a small branch in concessionaire space right next to the Café in 

the Main Library. By reconfiguring the Café footprint, this new 

vendor-space addition provides visitors with an opportunity to not 

only purchase a beverage or food item from the Café but also learn 

about financial literacy and financial products from KCT. KCT has 

already had an ATM near this location for several years. 

Celebration will include activities for all ages and more.

Bizarre Ocean Animals 

Discover strange creatures of the deep 

like the fierce-looking anglerfish that 

has a luminescent organ to lure prey. The 

Main Library will shine a spotlight on bizarre 

ocean animals throughout July. 

Sea Search Scavenger Hunt 

July 1 – 31 

Swim through the community! Grab 

a map from the Main Library, Rakow 

Branch or South Elgin Branch and find 

the window cling at each location to 

answer the sea search question. When 

you answer ten, bring your map into 

a library location to receive a prize.
