Fourth of <strong>July</strong> Parade, Concert, and Fireworks<br />
The City of Elgin is excited to celebrate the Fourth of <strong>July</strong> with a parade,<br />
concert and fireworks, all occurring on Tuesday, <strong>July</strong> 4. This year's theme is<br />
"90s Throwback."<br />
Parade Information<br />
Tuesday, <strong>July</strong> 4, 20<strong>23</strong> at 9:00 a.m. located at the<br />
intersection of Douglas and Slade. The parade<br />
concludes at the intersection of Douglas and<br />
Highland, near City Hall. This year there will be<br />
no float judging.<br />
Concert and Fireworks<br />
• Food trucks suited for various tastes will be<br />
parked on Grove Avenue adjacent to Festival<br />
Park starting at 4:00 p.m.<br />
• Free concert featuring various live music acts<br />
from across the United States will take place<br />
at Festival Park, located at 132 S Grove<br />
Avenue at 7:00 p.m.<br />
• Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy<br />
this all-day event.<br />
• No outside alcohol or pets will be allowed at the concert and fireworks.<br />
• The event concludes with a spectacular fireworks show beginning at around<br />
9:20 p.m. and lasting approximately 20-30 minutes.<br />
Movies in the Park<br />
Bring the whole family to sit under the stars in Elgin’s own beautiful parks!<br />
Enjoy a variety of family films all summer long, all for FREE! Remember to<br />
bring your lawn chairs, blankets, bug spray and snacks. Coolers are<br />
permitted at these events. No alcohol is allowed. Each event will have<br />
additional fun activities such as characters and interactive activities until the<br />
movie begins. All movies begin at approximately 8:00 p.m.<br />

The City has created the "Block Party in a<br />
Box," which has everything you need to host a<br />
memorable event! Everything from pop-up<br />
tents and tables to street barricades and safety<br />
signs to yard games and entertainment. You can<br />
reserve the Block Party in a Box for your event and<br />
city staff will handle the drop off and pickup for you. There<br />
is a $50 refundable deposit to reserve it and reservations are taken on a<br />
first-come-first-served basis.<br />
The Block Party in a Box cannot be reserved on<br />
National Night Out (<strong>August</strong> 1).<br />

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual<br />
community-building campaign that<br />
promotes police-community<br />
partnerships and neighborhood<br />
camaraderie to make our<br />

places to live. During NNO, residents<br />
spend their evening outside with their<br />
neighbors, police officers, firefighters<br />
and other City personnel. Events such<br />

Request a Free Tree for Your Parkway by <strong>August</strong> 15th<br />
Did you know? The City of Elgin has a program available to residents where they can request a free tree be<br />
planted in their parkway. The parkway is the area between the sidewalk and street. Elgin's free tree planting<br />
program was developed to sustain our neighborhood forests and provide value to properties.<br />
The city opens the application twice per year, once in the spring and once in the fall. The city will have 500<br />
trees available for the program this year. This program is first-come first-served, so make sure to submit your<br />
application early.<br />

to challenge your skills. Bowes Creek Country Club and The Highlands of Elgin<br />
are 18-hole, award-winning courses, and both have clubhouse restaurants<br />
ready to serve you. The Wing Park Golf Course offers a classic 9-hole game –<br />
perfect for any level golfer who wants to get a quick round in.<br />

advance, and weekend permanent tee times<br />

Sign Up for Community Solar<br />
Save money and support renewable energy in Illinois by reserving<br />
your spot in the city-sponsored Community Solar program! Those<br />
who subscribe to the program receive credits on their ComEd account<br />
for renewable energy generated in Illinois, and these credits reduce<br />
the energy supply charges on subscriber’s monthly energy bills about<br />
$100 in savings per year on average!<br />

and join the Reservation List. Your account will be reviewed by the<br />

Free Lunch and Drop-In Playground Program<br />
Join your neighbors in your neighborhood park for food and fun this summer! Children ages 6-12<br />
years are encouraged to “drop-in” when they need something new and exciting to fill their time.<br />
Special event days will also be held throughout the summer so drop by early to get a schedule of<br />
the events.<br />
All children need to have a completed emergency card on file with the program supervisor before<br />
attending. Children are not required to attend daily or for the entire program time but can come to<br />
the park for fun activities and games. The program will not be held on rainy or inclement weather<br />
days. Northern Illinois Food Bank will provide free lunches for participants beginning at 11:30 a.m.,<br />
rain or shine.<br />

concierto y fuegos artificiales, todo el martes 4 de julio. El tema de este año es<br />

de jardín y entretenimiento. Puedes reservar el<br />
remolque para tu evento y el personal de la ciudad se<br />
encargará de dejarlo y recogerlo. Hay un depósito reembolsable<br />
de $50 para reservarlo y las reservaciones se<br />
toman en el orden que se reciben.<br />

“National Night Out” (el 1 de agosto).<br />

Solicite un árbol gratis para su avenida<br />
¿Sabía Qué? La ciudad de Elgin tiene un programa disponible para los residentes donde pueden solicitar que<br />
se plante un árbol gratis en su avenida. La avenida es el área que se encuentra entre la banqueta y el bordillo<br />
de la calle. El programa gratuito de plantación de árboles de Elgin se desarrolló para sustentar los bosques de<br />

La ciudad abre la aplicación dos veces al año, una en primavera y otra en otoño. La ciudad tendrá 500 árboles<br />
