Two years ago they told me,
You had eyes for me too.
No attention had ever been payed to me.
My friends chatted and stirred, but I knew
You still didn’t see me.
One year ago they told me,
This could finally work!

How stupid of me.
I knew from the start,
I was nothing to see.
You begged me to stay.
My brain urged me not to,
My heart locked those thoughts away.
Six months in and I’m not myself.
You’ve wound me so tight,
The old me is trapped on a shelf.

But he can’t possibly see me,
What am I to him?
Still they made me smile reluctantly.
Date three you made me weak.
Pulled me closer,
Grazed your tender lips across my cheek.
He sees me, it’s true!
And with every word,
My love for you grew.
I see you baby,
He says non-stop.
Then why have I been crying lately?
You don’t see me,
I know now.
But I still see you crystal - clearly.
I’ll be yours, in defeat
For as long as my foolish heart,
Continues to beat.
Month four, reality dawned.
You forgot about me,
As soon as you were gone.
