user is able to choose from a selection of high-speed,
high-quality printing modes to optimize the process
according to requirements.
With dual material cartridges, each holding 2 kg,
the Eden250 is designed for high productivity with
little operator intervention. Efficient material usage
is ensured by Objet Geometries’ PolyLog materials
management system.
The Objet Eden250 supports four modelling materials:
FullCure ® 720 transparent, VeroBlue, Vero White
and VeroBlack. This selection provides a broad application
range. Users can produce models and parts
that vary in terms of flexibility, elongation at break,
and colour.
New Opportunities
“The machine has opened up a whole new world
of opportunities for Ison,” says Isaacs. According to
the managing director, it helps the company think
outside the box and come up with unconventional
solutions.
For example, one Ison customer wanted to prototype
a rubber seal for a drinking vessel with a vacuum
casting, but replicating the production material
proved difficult. Isaacs then deployed the Eden250 to
print a set of plastic injection-mould tools—die and
cavity. Ison was able to inject the seal mould with
the very rubber intended to be used for production.
Because of the material’s low melting temperature, it
didn’t damage the mould tool.
“The customer was thrilled that we could provide
a prototype so quickly, in the exact production material
and for such a low price,” reports Isaacs, who says
that considerable amounts of time and money have
been saved on other projects by making a similar
substitution for metal investment casting tools.
Other benefits accruing to Ison’s customers from
receiving quickly produced 3D prototypes include
early validation of design intent, enhanced marketing
presentations, and accelerated customer and
vendor feedback.
“The acquisition of the Objet machine means we
can make real parts in real materials in a matter of
hours at a fraction of normal cost,” Paul Isaacs says.
“Parts that are complex to make using conventional
manufacturing methods are ideal for 3D printing.
The process adds a whole new facet to our portfolio
of services and can only help strengthen our position
in the market.”
