What are Summative Assessments (SAs) 1 ?<br />

All students in <strong>Delhi</strong> DoE (Director of Education) schools<br />

take one mid-term exam and one final exam in all<br />

subjects (English, Math, SST, Science and Hindi) for all<br />

Grades from 6-12 th .<br />

SA 1 SA 2<br />

The Summative Assessments, or SAs, are intended to<br />

measure student’s learning, content knowledge and<br />

cumulative learning over a period of 4-6 months<br />

between Sep - Oct<br />

• <strong>Student</strong>s tested on ~40%<br />

of syllabus for the year<br />

• Usually conducted<br />

between Feb - Mar<br />

• <strong>Student</strong>s tested on ~60% to<br />

100% of syllabus for the year<br />

<br />

SAs are set by the Examination Branch of the DoE. Support<br />

materials are provided to students in the form of books or<br />

PDFs online. The exams are conducted in schools under<br />

the supervision of school teachers.<br />

Together, SA 1 and SA 2 make up the biggest part of the<br />

grade for students for the year (remaining part come from<br />

internal class tests, formative assessments, etc.)<br />
