THE BIG BANG FAIR TRIP
On Tuesday 10th July, 48 pupils visited the
Big Bang Fair in Liverpool. This showcase of
science allowed students to look at the latest
scientific developments in a range of fields
from universities and colleges to emergency
services, technology companies, chemical
companies and even the ITV studios based in
Salford. there were displays, experiments,
demonstrations and live shows to educate,
inspire and challenge our pupils. We got to
watch various things being frozen and then
smashed with liquid nitrogen, we made
various types of slime using different
formulations of ingredients, we sampled new
concoctions of smoothies, we played with a
variety of new robotic developments and saw
the stalls that were there from a number of
local schools exhibiting science projects that
they had been working on over the last years
in their own science clubs.
Pupils were buzzing as they got back on the
coach to come home, their hands loaded with
science-related freebies and their heads full of
new ideas and exciting things that they had
been able to engage with in a way that was
definitely out of the ordinary!
We hope to return next year to the Big Bang
Fair for more interesting and thoughtprovoking
science!
