INTERVIEW
wrong. It didn’t give me
butterflies in my stomach.
It seemed like a natural
progression. I thought it
was time. It didn’t make
me fear what if this doesn’t
work out. I don’t have
those doubts regarding
him. He’s been such a good
friend. I’ve always been
comfortable around him.
Now, we’re not friends as
much as we’re husband
and wife. I know it comes
with the territory. Apart
from all the amazing
qualities I can go on and on
about, there’s a huge sense
of comfort and love that we
feel for each other.
WILL MARRIAGE CHANGE
ANYTHING FOR YOU?
(Laughs) Yes, less wardrobe
space for sure. But apart
from that, nothing I guess.
Both of us are chilled out.
We have our little issues
that couples have like
who’s gonna wake up first
before a flight, sharing
bathroom space and stuff
like that. But apart from
that nothing much has
changed. I’m just happy
that I go back home to
Angad.
ARE MARRIED ACTRESSES
LOOKED AT DIFFERENTLY?
I don’t believe so. Time
has changed. Actresses,
on top of their game,
are married. Marriage
shouldn’t change anything.
Anushka (Sharma) and
Kareena (Kapoor Khan)
have redefined perceptions.
They’re successful and
they have wonderful
personal lives.
WHAT’S THE BEST THING
ABOUT BEING MARRIED?
(Smiles) That you’re
married! It feels fantastic.
It wasn’t such a big deal
that I was making it out
Pant suit and skirt: Zara
Neck piece: Shaze
Shoes: Christiam Louboutin
MY ADVICE TO PEOPLE WHO BODY SHAME IS #GO F**K YOURSELF.
I’M SPEAKING FOR AN ENTIRE SECTION OF WOMEN WHO’RE FIT, WHO
LIVE THEIR LIVES AND WHO EAT WELL. FOR WOMEN, WHO GIVE UP
CHOCOLATES AND STARVE THEMSELVES, # GO F**K YOURSELF
to be all these 37 years. I
recommend it to everyone.
Try it at least once!
AS A PROFESSIONAL, WHAT
KEEPS YOU GOING?
I’ve huge professional
insecurity - whether I’ll get
my next job or not. That’s
what keeps the fire in my
belly going. The insecurity
stems from the fact that
I’m not from the industry.
I’ve been in the city for
17 years. Here, you’re not
expected to be around
for more than three-four
years. But the one thing
that kept me going was
the insecurity of losing it
all. I come from a middleclass
family. My father
was in the navy. We’ve
been brought up with this
value system that you’ve
got to survive no matter
what. The fear of losing
everything, the fear of
being irrelevant…
all these goad me to do
better. I respect the work
I get, no matter how big
or small it is.
