A ROLLESTON travel agency has
been recognised at the Helloworld
Gala Dinner.
Helloworld Rolleston’s Yvette
Dyer took out bronze for outstanding
success in sales revenue.
The award is a celebration
of the past year’s sales and is
bench-marked against other
branches across Helloworld’s 70
independently-owned branches
nationwide.
It was presented by
Helloworld’s management
and the comedy
duo Jono and Ben.

ONE OF the most interesting
spider families are the jumping
spiders or salticidae.
Thirty species have been
described by arachnologists in
New Zealand, but it has been
estimated that as many as 150-
200 species of jumping spiders
occur here.
Salticidae are distinguished
by a square-fronted head, with
four large, forwardly- pointed
eyes, and four smaller eyes on
top of their head, giving them
the best vision of all spiders.
The two inner front eyes are
the largest and assist with their
predatory lifestyle. As their
common name suggests, they
can jump distances of more
than 4cm to catch their prey.
One species commonly seen
around the house or backyard
is the golden-brown jumping
spider trite auricoma.
Favourite haunts of this
7-8mm native species are
among dead leaves of flax or
cabbage tree leaves.
Males have larger front legs
that they use for mating displays
or against rival males when they
