GIG GUIDE // SEPTEMBER GIG OF THE MONTH: KEVIN BURKE Lewes Saturday Folk Club have some exciting news for us this month - legendary Irish fiddle player Kevin Burke, no less, is visiting all the way from Oregon, USA, to play a gig at the Elly. Dubbed ‘probably the greatest Irish fiddler living’ by American news and cult paper The Village Voice, Burke has played all over the world with the likes of The Christy Moore Band, The Bothy Band, in a duo with Cal Scott, and with Patrick Street. He’s an accomplished and impressive solo performer; it’s a pretty big deal that someone of his calibre is visiting the UK, let alone playing a pub in Lewes. Saturday 8, Elephant and Castle, 8pm, £12. (Kevin will also lead an all-day fiddle workshop, places are £40 and limited to 20 people, half-price places for two under-25-year olds, email valmaigoodyear@aol.com to arrange.)
