Celebrating Maori<br />

language week<br />

Chisnallwood Intermediate<br />

School celebrated Māori<br />

Language Week, integrating<br />

Te Reo Māori across a range<br />

of learning areas. The theme<br />

was Kia Kaha Te Reo Māori –<br />

making the Maori language<br />

strong in New Zealand. The<br />

week-long learning focus at<br />

Chisnallwood Intermediate<br />

culminated a showcase of<br />

performances with team<br />

competitions, music and<br />

a dance off. The school’s<br />

music programme<br />

co-ordinator Judith Bell said<br />

teachers reported high pupil<br />

engagement and enjoyment<br />

from the week. “Students<br />

speak of a vibe and a real<br />

excitement pulsing around<br />

the school,” she said.<br />

Production is a three-year applied degree,<br />

exciting opportunity to provide a broader<br />

and deeper education in audio and music<br />

industry in recent years, with advances in<br />

technology and changes in the way it’s used.<br />

MAINZ is ready to prepare graduates for this<br />

rapidly evolving employment market.”<br />

Across the three years of the degree students<br />

will progress from first year to some elective<br />

pathways in year two, to a more flexible third<br />

year involving a capstone project.<br />

As well as the core audio engineering and<br />

electronic music production components,<br />

elective courses include an increased focus on<br />

Audio <strong>Post</strong>-Production, Radio & Broadcast<br />

Production, and Game Audio.<br />

MAINZ Christchurch also offers<br />

programmes in Live Sound and Lighting,<br />

and DJ and Electronic Music Production,<br />

as well as a range of part-time and short<br />

course options.<br />
