What will I learn?<br />

This introductory course will<br />

help prepare you for work in the<br />

construction industry or give you<br />

the qualification to progress on to<br />

the Level 2 bricklaying course to<br />

develop your knowledge and skills<br />

further.<br />

You’ll learn through a combination<br />

of hands-on practical training and<br />

classroom based activities.<br />

You'll build foundation carpentry<br />

and joinery skills to help you<br />

hands-on, you’ll learn carpentry<br />

and joinery techniques using hand<br />

and power tools, as well as health<br />

and safety.<br />

On completion of the course,<br />

you can progress to one of our<br />

Level 2 courses, into work or an<br />

apprenticeship.<br />

wanting to enter the plumbing<br />

to pick up some core skills and<br />

knowledge in basic plumbing,<br />

enabling you to progress onto the<br />

Level 2 course.<br />

including carrying out safe<br />

working practices, understanding<br />

fundamental scientific principles<br />

within building services engineering<br />

and understanding low carbon steel<br />

pipe fabrication work for domestic<br />

Two GCSE grades at D/3 or above,<br />

ideally including maths and English<br />

or equivalent.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

In this basic installation course you<br />

will learn about electrical circuits,<br />

systems and installation methods<br />

used to power and light buildings.<br />

You will cover a variety of electrical<br />

cabling systems and enclosures<br />

used in domestic, commercial and<br />

industrial premises.<br />

During the course you will also<br />

study topics covering safe working<br />

practices and health and safety<br />

legislation applicable to the<br />

construction industry, as well as<br />

basic electrical scientific theories.<br />

This course will enable you to pick<br />

up the core skills necessary to<br />

progress on to the Level 2 Electrical<br />

Installation programme.<br />

As well as this you will also receive<br />

a weekly tutorial, take part in<br />

course enrichment activities and<br />

study maths and English at your<br />

appropriate level.<br />
