ART IN A GARDEN
It’s time for that annual country drive to North
Canterbury for Art in a Garden at Hawarden.
Large-scale installations are presented
throughout Flaxmere, a garden of National
Significance on the terraces of the Waitohi
River. Or find a curated exhibition of paintings,
photography, prints, ceramics, glass and
jewellery in the barn gallery. Enjoy picnic box
lunches, local wine, tea, coffee and sweet treats
and music.

MID CENTURY MODERN
Mid Century Modern: The Morrison
Collection shares the Morrison family’s
collection of Italian, American and
Scandinavian furniture and design from the
1950s-1980s. Ross Morrison grew up as
the son of an antique dealer and for the
last 24 years has been sourcing top-quality
mid-century pieces from around the world
for his own store, Mr Mod. His son Nico
joined Ross in the Christchurch-based
business early last year. The exhibition
at CoCA includes modernist classics by
Charles & Ray Eames, Gio Ponti, George
Nelson, Hans Wegner, Alvar Aalto and
Arne Jacobsen.

SCULPTURE NORTH
CANTERBURY
It’s another family affair at Pegasus Bay Winery, where
a new event offers the chance to combine a tasting
of the Donaldsons’ finest with a spring outing to view
sculpture by some of the nation’s best.
Sculpture North Canterbury includes works by
Rebecca Rose, Dion Hitchens, Allan O’Loughlin, Llew
Summers, Matthew Williams and Doug Neil installed
around the extensive winery grounds.
