Professional designer can
offer innovative options
Longer days and warmer temperatures signal that now is a good
time to start planning your new garden, or revamping your existing
one, suggests landscape designer Sharon Crofts.
A good way to start, she says, is with a consultation to discuss your
ideas. From there, Sharon will produce a design concept and a planting
schedule to create a garden that’s unique to you and your lifestyle.
While many homeowners like to plan their own gardens, calling on
a professional designer can be very helpful, as they often have design
and planting ideas or innovative landscape options the home gardener
hadn’t thought of, Sharon says.
At this time of year, too, the plant nurseries are well stocked with
new plants and shrubs ready for planting in all areas of the garden.
Having a landscape plan takes away the confusion over which plants
go where.
Homeowners have the option of implementing the plan themselves,
or alternatively, Sharon can recommend contractors, who will visit
the property and give quotes for the work. The homeowner can then
choose the one they feel most comfortable with.
Having your paving or decking areas professionally designed and
executed will give the landscaping that professional edge, which in
turn will add value to the property.
As the end of year gets closer, contractors are getting booked up
with projects clients require to have completed before Christmas,
Sharon says, so anyone wanting work done before the festive season
will need to act quickly. However, there will be more availability in
January and February, when contractors are not so busy and there are
still several weeks of summer left for homeowners to enjoy their newly
designed outdoor area.
So, to arrange for a consultation on your new garden design,
