strict literary criticism. You will
‘Imprint’ exhibition pulls together four diverse artists expressing their
personal cultural and environmental impressions.
These artworks are mostly in the form of high quality prints from original paintings.
Sofia Minson paints
portraits and landscapes
infused with ancient
myth, magic and
symbolism. There is
both defiance and
incorporation of Western
and Maori cultural
influences.
Melissa Sharplin
lives in majestic
Southern Otago. These
landscapes mark the
first in a new direction
for Sharplin, exploring
the epic Southern Otago
landscapes and their
untamed inhabitants.
Kate Beatty’s Black
Series - sacred
geometric patterns
integrate the banal
object of a doily with a
spiritual pattern relating
to creation. Native bird
value is suggested by the
central focal point.
Hamish Southcott has a
passion for environmental
issues and a preference
for using reclaimed
materials. Discs of native
timber are engraved with
impressions of evocative
scenes.
