Westfield Youth FC
The new youth football season is well underway as we head into the
colder & darker months.
Our three youth teams all play in the Rother Youth League which has
teams from Eastbourne in the West to Goudhurst and Tonbridge to the North and Rye
in the East.
Our new u7 side has been together since late August but are progressing well. With
new players joining there are still 2-3 spaces. If your child wishes to play locally and is
aged u7 at 31/8/18 or attains the age of 6 before the end of the season get in contact.
U7 home matches are played at our amazing Mill Lane Pitch on alternative Saturday
mornings. Pop in if you are passing to see this great bunch of players.
Our u14's have had a good start to the season with several wins and a draw. Parent
volunteer Andy G completed his CRC and Level 1 FA coaching qualification this month.
Great job! Andy will gradually take primary responsibility for the u14 team. The u14 do
have a couple of spaces (yr 9) if your child is looking.
(I don't think Westfield is unique but we find it really challenging to keep the older age
groups (13-17yrs) engaged and committed to their football development as other
interests start taking over).
Our u15's are doing well this year with lots of new players. Their determination to
overcome last season's results is starting to show on the pitch and they will get what
they deserve soon.
Both the u14/15 play on the main Parish field - so if you are passing, pop along and
see how the teams are getting on.
So to your club - yes it is your club, member or not WYFC is here to primarily provide
association football opportunities for our children. But we’re finding it really difficult to
make ends meet, without the ongoing support from our local sponsors, donations and
volunteers giving their time it might be impossible to continue. Our need to change
approach and priorities is evident on our balance sheet.
Recently I have been successful in getting a massive £400 donation from the WCA to
enable us to create, hosting and manage a club website. This will cover the direct costs
for 2yrs and is being provided at a very reduced rate.
(westfieldfcwebmaster@gmail.com)
What will it provide? The possibilities are endless, but it will be a News, results and
contact hub. There will be resources from the FA Charter Standard, safeguarding and
advice articles. We will have a club committee section, chairman's blog plus all our
sponsors will benefit from direct links to their business websites. We will add local links
to important service providers and local clubs, WCA & Parish Council to name just a
few. I would like to thank all the WCA committee for supporting us.
Don't forget to contact us if you want to get involved, have a child or group of children
that are looking to join a team, can help the club as a volunteer or by sponsorship.
