BLOCKED: Buses have to avoid cars parked in the Riccarton Rd bus lane during morning operational hours.
New bus lanes ‘unusable’
• By Anan Zaki
NEW BUS lanes on Riccarton
Rd are being ignored by
motorists less than a month
after they were opened.
The bus lanes between Deans
Ave and Harakeke St are part
of the recently completed $2.57
million Riccarton Rd renewal
and resurfacing works.
The bus lanes opened on
November 1.
Red Bus chief executive Paul
McNoe said the Riccarton Rd
bus lanes are “unusable” when
cars are parked.
“Because of the number of
cars parked are substantial . . .
it’s unavailable for its intended
use,” Mr McNoe said.
City council transport
operations manager Steffan
Thomas said 29 warning
letters have been handed out
to drivers for ignoring the bus
lanes.
from the reporter’s desk
TEMPLETON AND Weedons residents have long known this
day was coming.
Fulton Hogan submitted its resource consent application to
Environment Canterbury and Selwyn District Council for its
proposed 170ha quarry last Tuesday (page 3).
If this year is anything to go by, it will be fiercely fought by residents
who have made their stance against the quarry clear.
Quarries are becoming an increasingly hot topic in the west, as
we discussed with Yaldhurst author Soraya Nicholas (page 10).
It’s a topic I have to cover frequently. A common phrase mentioned
to me is the “sense of fear” in the community about the
potential effects of quarries.
As the city grows, the demand for rock will continue to
increase. And as the population grows, more and more people will
find themselves near quarries, particularly as the population shifts
west.
I suspect quarrying in the outskirts of the city will be one of the
big environmental debates in the coming years, which may one
day force the Government to intervene. – Anan Zaki
Quarry consent application lodged
Opponents
vow to keep
fighting plans
• By Anan Zaki
AFTER MONTHS of delays
Fulton Hogan has submitted a
resource consent application to
quarry near Templeton.
Environment Canterbury and
the Selwyn District Council
received the resource consent
application last
Tuesday.
ECan said the
application will
now be assessed
to determine if
all of the required
information has
Simon
Moore
been provided by
Fulton Hogan.
The resource
consent
application is yet to be formally
accepted by ECan.
The company is proposing
a quarry at a 170ha site on
Curraghs, Dawsons, Jones and
Maddisons Rds.
Fulton Hogan first announced
its plans for a quarry in the area
in December last year and said
it would submit the consent
application in February.
But the submission was
delayed to May, then September,
and then November.
The quarry proposal has
attracted vocal opposition
from Templeton and Weedons
residents.
Templeton Residents’
Association chairman Garry
Kilday said people have
anticipated the resource consent
application for some time.
“It’s been coming and it’s not
unexpected.”
Weedons Residents’
Association member Simon
Moore said it was a “very sad
day” for the communities near
the proposed quarry.
“None of us want it.
They’ve got no interest
except money. It’s nothing to do
with Christchurch’s needs,” he
said.
Mr Moore said residents will
now prepare to fight the resource
consent application should it be
to quarry
Templeton.
accepted by ECan.
“This is a battle, the war is not
over yet.” He said the fight will
cost time and money.
“There are going to be lots
of people who are going to be
affected by this who are all
going to have to spend time and
money,” Mr Moore said.
“At the end of the day, Fulton
Hogan could get what they want,
but I can assure you . . . I’ll do
what it takes,” he said.
SCHOOL CROSSINGS
Two kea crossings have been
proposed outside Knights Stream
and Wigram schools to help keep
pupils safe. The crossings would
go on Richmond Ave, Halswell,
and Curtis St in Wigram. Kea
crossings only operate when a
school patrol and two fluorescent
orange crossing point flag signs
are present. A decision to install
the crossings is set to be made by
the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton
DENTON PARK MEMORIAL
Following a request from Hornby
residents, the city council has
investigated the possibility of a
memorial plaque at Denton Park.
City council team leader heritage
parks and city centre, Nicky
Brown, said the plaque would
cost about $1300. In September,
Save Denton Park chairman
Mark Peters called for a plaque to
recognise the park as a gift to the
city by Stanley Denton.
BUSY: There have been 13 crashes at the Yaldhurst and Withells Rds
Residents want traffic
•From page 1
Prof Bagchi said due
to traffic increases,
commuters are “risking
their lives” at the
intersection everyday.
“A few simple traffic
not take time like another
“I am glad that
finally NZTA has
While he has not
witnessed a crash at the
has seen many near misses
and said the intersection is
dangerous.
Said Mr Michel-Smith:
“At rush hour . . . people
turning into Yaldhurst Rd
from Withells Rd tend to
get stuck there for a very
long time and start making
silly decisions and taking
small gaps.”
“I’ve seen a number of
those instances and it’s just
getting worse as the traffic
Most crashes at the
years have been during
by failure to give way to
traffic on Yaldhurst Rd, Mr
Scarlet said.
“As the traffic volumes
increase on Yaldhurst Rd,
it becomes more difficult
for drivers to find a space to
to consider if traffic signals
Rd ‘unusable’
•From page 1
However, no vehicles have
been towed and no infringement
notices have been issued yet, Mr
Thomas said.
“Education is an important
component to
keeping the
bus lanes clear
and this is
currently being
conducted as
part of our one
month phase to
educate motorists
about the
Paul McNoe
bus lane rules.”
Vehicles
parked in bus lanes during operational
times impacted the overall
efficiency of the bus network, Mr
Thomas said.
Mr McNoe said it was “reasonable”
to give out warning letters
in the first month because the bus
lanes have only recently opened.
“It can take a while for people to
sometimes realise that it is what it
is,” he said.
Bus lanes being blocked has
been an ongoing issue for a number
of years, Mr McNoe said.
“I think it’s early days . . . clearly
it’s frustrating bus drivers at this
stage, but I think the approach
they [city council] are taking is a
reasonable approach.”
Alcohol store
denies teen
on birthday
• By Anan Zaki
AN AVONHEAD teen was left
with a bitter taste on his 18th
birthday after a liquor store
refused to sell him beer.
Car yard worker Andrew
Winton turned 18 on November
13.
To celebrate his birthday with
work colleagues at Avon City
Ford, Mr Winton went to buy
some beers at Coach Corner
Liquor on Yaldhurst Rd.
It was his first time buying
alcohol.
He provided his driver licence
to prove he turned 18 on the
day, but to his surprise the shop
assistant refused to sell him the
beer.
Mr Winton said the shop
assistant told him he wasn’t old
enough, and that he had to be
18 years and one day old to buy
alcohol.
“It was just bizarre.”
“I told him I’m 18 and that I
can buy it, but he told me it’s the
rule and I said, no, I don’t think
it is,” he said.
Mr Winton decided not to
argue and left without his beers.
Police confirmed people can
purchase alcohol on their 18th
birthday.
FRESHCHOICE and
SuperValue are no longer
The supermarkets went plastic
Group general manager
Robert Smith said he is thrilled
to have gone single-use plastic
SOBERING: Avonhead resident Andrew Winton was refused beer for not being old enough on
his 18th birthday.
assistant Sunny Limbachiya told
Western News that he was the
one who refused to sell beer to
Mr Winton on his 18th birthday.
Mr Limbachiya blamed a
calendar at the shop for his
end of the year.
“It’s great to see how positive
our stores have been about this
change,” he said.
“They are 100 per cent behind
this initiative and have played
a huge part in ensuring we are
single-use plastic bag-free ahead
of our target date.
“Millions of single-use
plastic bags are ending up in
our waterways and oceans and
actions. “We have this calendar
that we use and that calendar
says ‘born after’. So I was
confused.” Mr Limbachiya said
he regretted the incident and
said it will not be repeated.
harming our marine
species. There is no doubt
that they are a significant
environmental issue and we’re
glad to be removing them from
our stores.”
Customers are being
encouraged to bring their own
reusable bags. But for customers
who forget, there will also be a
number of alternative options
available to purchase in-store
Said Mr Winton: “For my first
time [buying beer] it was pretty
unfortunate.”
He still managed to enjoy
a drink with his family that
night.
with prices starting from 20c.
“The best option is for our
customers to bring their own
bags when they shop with us
and it’s encouraging to see how
many customers have already
started doing this,” Mr Smith
said.
“I’m sure we will see more
and more customers bringing
their bags as they get used to the
change.”
A RECORD number of buses
are set to be used for next year’s
Selwyn Sounds following strong
interest from the city’s northern
and western suburbs.
Eleven of the 16 buses
booked for the March event are
from Northland’s Shopping
Centre, Papanui and Westfield
Riccarton.
It is the
same number
of buses as last
year’s record
total of 16. The
event is in its
third year.
But Selwyn
Sounds
promoter
David Parlane
expects to see even more buses
booked by March.
Mr Parlane said people from
Papanui and Riccarton have
been drawn to the event because
of its “unique” variety of performers
and food stalls.
He said the older demographic
from the northern suburbs may
have played a part in the strong
interest for Selwyn Sounds, but
couldn’t say for certain why the
north is attracting more buses.
He also predicts about 30
buses will be booked with most
of them coming from Papanui
and Riccarton.
“I would say about 10 or 12
of those buses would be out of
Papanui. When you look at it
that’s 600 people from the area,”
Mr Parlane said.
He expected about eight to
Have your
the plans
for West
Broken
Run Reserve
• By Anan Zaki
CONSULTATION IS open for
a proposed landscape plan at
the West Broken Run Reserve
in Wigram.
The city council made the
proposal after suggestions from
residents.
The proposal includes
planting native species, fruit
trees, a nature play area and
boardwalk over the stream at
the reserve.
Public feedback opened last
week and closes on December
12.
Should the landscape project
be approved at a meeting to be
held in February, the project
will start in winter.
Neighbours of the West
Broken Run Reserve sent a
request to plant the park in
May.
The city council said planting
more of the reserve will reduce
the grassed area and create a
more “inviting” environment.
The reserve is on the corner
of Broken Run and Wigram Rd.
The city council is also
planning a community planting
day in winter.
Top-selling Yaldhurst author
now a quarry fighter
• By Anan Zaki
SORAYA NICHOLAS has
recently made a name for herself
fighting a quarry in Yaldhurst.
But away from opposing the
Road Metals quarry extension
near her home, Nicholas – who
publishes under the name Soraya
writing historical women’s
fiction.
She started writing books 15
years ago, with little results. But
that changed after she published
her first novel, Voyage of the
Heart, in 2013.
Fast-forward to today and
Nicholas is currently in the
process of pitching her novels
to United States television
networks.
“It’s very surreal. When
you’re writing a novel . . . it’s a
movie in my head and to think
that someone might actually
take that story, stamp their
own creativity on it and turn it
into something visual is pretty
exciting,” Nicholas said.
She published Voyage of the
Heart independently.
“That novel did really well
and sold about 20,000 copies on
my own and then I was offered
a publishing deal by Amazon
Publishing through their Lake
Union imprint and the rest is
history,” Nicholas said.
FRUSTRATION is mounting
over rubbish bags being dumped
on roads.
A number of residents went
on Facebook to report that black
rubbish bags have been dumped
near the Quarry View subdivision
in Halswell and in rural
Selwyn since November last year.
Prebbleton resident Miriam
She was the first Kiwi to reach
But household rubbish has also
rubbish was found dumped
on Tosswill Rd, Prebbleton.
“It’s a bit weird as to where they
are coming from,” Dr Martin
She notified the Selwyn District
Nicholas initially studied to be
The knowledge in law was one
of the reasons she has vocally
campaigned against the Road
“I’ve been wanting to do work
Getting ready for
the festive season
Christmas means a lot of things to a lot of
people. For some it is a religious celebration,
for others a chance to gather with family and
celebrate. Whatever Christmas means to you,
there are many ways to celebrate – from the full
grandeur of baked ham and turkey with all the
trimmings or a picnic on the beach with the ones
you love.
For some, Christmas can be a stressful time
of year, but there are ways to minimise this and
spread the workload, so everyone can enjoy the
day.
Here are some ideas to help you get through the
festive season.
Create order in your home
Start preparations early, if you are hosting
everyone at your house, don’t leave it all to the
last minute. Start the spring clean up now so
when it comes to the days leading into the holiday
season you are not rushing around – making you
stressed and exhausted.
Tackling one room at a time is a good way
to purge and get organised. Sorting through
wardrobes and cupboards and getting rid of
anything you haven’t used in the past year. Having
all the rooms organised means there will also be
space for those coming to stay during this busy
time.
Once you’ve dusted and vacuumed shut the
doors and just air out the room a few days before
your guests arrive. A nice towel placed at the end
of the bed and a small floral arrangement from the
garden can also add a nice welcoming touch.
Share the food load
We have between 25 to 30 people for Christmas
most years, but our family has got smart. The host
divvies up the food between each family, spreading
the cost and the work.
About four weeks before the big day, we send
out a food allocation of what each person brings.
Picking the perfect pressie
at the perfect price
Christmas present shopping can be a headache for giftgivers
but here are a few simple steps to assist you when
selecting the perfect gift this Christmas season.
Set a budget
The trap many people fall into is
overspending. Work out how much you
want to spend total for all your presents, then
use this amount to allocate the amount you
are going to spend on each person. If your
allocation totals more than your budget,
then scrape a little bit of money off each
person’s amount.
The common pitfall at Christmas, or in fact
any other time you’re shopping, is when you
see something that is just a few dollars more.
Those few dollars can really add up, so try
and stick to the amount you have budgeted
for each person as closely as possible.
If you spend less on a person yet still get
them the perfect gift, then see it as a win.
Get your
Christmas sorted
before the summer BBQ’s and
beers start!
If things are tight
If you are not able to afford to buy
presents for all your family members, then
be honest with them. Perhaps now is the
time to stop buying for your brothers and
sisters, nephews and nieces. A secret Santa
present, where each person is allocated
someone to buy for with a set dollar limit, is
a great idea – you still get the fun of giving
and receiving but not the huge expense.
Otherwise another way to cut costs
is to give something you have made
yourself. This could be baking, chutneys or
something you have crafted or sewn. If you
have a special talent for making something
(that doesn’t cost the earth) then now is the
time to show it.
Ask for help
If you’re unsure of what to get someone a
little hint from the person is okay. Children
especially love writing lists of what they
would like, so save those catalogues coming
through the letterbox, look at newspaper
advertisements or go online and spend
some time with them to find out what their
perfect present is.
It’s okay also to say that the gift they have
chosen is too expensive but then together
search through and find an alternative. It
can still be a surprise for them on the day,
if you get them to write down two or three
of their favourite things and then tell them
you will pick one from their list.
Shop assistants can also offer great ideas
PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA PARA
if you give them the gender and age of
the people you are shopping for. They
know what stock they have in store
and can save you time and struggle by
culling out the things that may not be
appropriate.
Before you head out make sure you are
rested up, fed and hydrated and stress
free – if you aren’t, chances are you will
blow your budget just to get the job
done quickly. Shopping hours are often
extended at this time of year, so shop
smart and go either early in the morning
or late at night when shops should be
less busy.
Iris to represent Wigram
• By Anan Zaki
HORNBY HIGH School student
Iris Taramai is the new Youth
MP for Wigram.
The 16-year-old was selected by
Wigram MP Megan Woods and
will represent the electorate at
next year’s Youth Parliament in
Wellington.
Iris hopes to learn more about
Parliament and the Wigram
electorate.
“Initially, I was quite surprised
that I was selected, but as soon
as the idea of being a Youth MP
settled in, I felt the determination
to do a good job of it,” she said.
“I am definitely looking
forward to working with Megan
Woods.”
Iris became interested in
politics during a school trip to
the Beehive when she was at
intermediate school.
She believes the most
important issue facing young
people is a lack of employment
opportunities.
“This issue could lead into
youth crime, which is definitely
a problem which New Zealand
doesn’t want to deal with,” Iris
said.
Dr Woods asked each high
school in her electorate to
nominate a candidate for the role
of Youth MP.
LEADERS: Wigram MP Megan Woods has chosen Hornby High
School student Iris Taramai, 16, as her Youth MP.
She asked the students why
they thought they would be a
good representative for Wigram
and how they would benefit from
the experience.
“I was very impressed by how
dedicated Iris is to both her
studies and extra-curricular
activities, such as softball,” Dr
Woods said.
“I was also impressed with
Iris’s passion for her local
community. I think she’ll make a
great Youth MP,” she said.
The 2019 Youth
Parliament will take place from
March 1 to August 31, with 120
Youth MPs and up to 20 youth
press gallery members attending
the two-day Youth Parliament
event in Wellington on July 16
and 17.
Halswell resident Geoff
Teehan responds to the
article about new speeds
in the Knights Stream
subdivision
AS A resident of the Longhurst
subdivision, the one that is right
next door to Knights Stream, I
had to laugh at an article in the
Western News that quote: “A city
council report said residents in
the [Knights Stream] subdivision
had raised concerns
about the existing
speed limits.”
A lot of residents
have complained to
council about our
untidy landscaping,
lawns not mowed,
weeds up to 45cm
even gorse growing
in an empty section.
I complained to the local
councillor and she said she had
raised the issue with council but
to no avail.
My rates are $3500 and I’m
sure everyone expects a better
service. Also they give out
community pride certificates to
residents with tidy gardens, pity
they don’t set an example.
at these meetings is just another
form of privilege.
Chrys Horn –
I don’t begrudge
them some food – from
what I’ve seen, the
board often come to
meetings from work
and often haven’t
had the chance to eat
beforehand. Some of
them at least work
hard on our behalf
(and if they don’t then that’s
because people didn’t vote or
didn’t bother finding out about
who they voted for). Being able
to have something to eat means
that they are more likely to last
the distance.
On top of that the food is offered
to and eaten by any of the
public that come to the meeting
– and it is not luxury stuff, nor
luxury quantities, based on what
I’ve seen on the occasions I’ve
been to meetings.
Clearly though, if their spend
is high relative to other boards
they might need to think about
what they buy and perhaps who
they buy from.
City2Surf set to celebrate 45 years
Fire rages, homes at risk
STAR MEDIA will celebrate
45 years since participants in
the City2Surf hit the ground
running.
Since 1975, Star Media’s
City2Surf, one of the South
Island’s largest participation
events, has brought thousands
of people together for fun and
fitness.
On March 24, City2Surf will
celebrate its 45th anniversary.
A lot has changed since the
event’s humble beginnings.
However, it still remains first and
foremost a fun run.
Originally, the City2Surf would
start in Cathedral Square and
end at New Brighton beach.
Later, the finish line was
changed to QE II stadium.
In 2011, following the
earthquake, the event had to be
cancelled as parts of the eastern
route were broken.
Now the start line for the
14km event is at Centennial Park
and the Sport Canterbury 6km
event begins at Hansen Park,
Opawa.
Both events finish at the
Ferrymead playing fields with
FREE entry given to participants
into Ferrymead Historic Park.
Over the years, City2Surf
has helped to burn more than
184,730,000 calories, says event
manager Jon Holmes.
“The amount of kilometres run
during this event is enough to
run around the world 120 times,”
he said.
Entries to participate in the
2019 City2Surf open on Saturday.
The Star Media 14km event
with Les Mills and Sport
Canterbury 6km option means
there is always something
suitable for all runners and
walkers of all fitness types.
Participants can choose to
either take part individually or in
a team.
Since first opening in 2007, the
hospital has provided more than
15,000 patient visits. It provides
free day surgery, medical
treatments, dentistry, oral
surgery and counselling.
The hospital is unique to New
Zealand in that its services are
frequently updated depending on
the need.
The Canterbury Charity
Hospital Trust does not
receive any Government
funding and relies on
fundraising events, such as
the City2Surf, donations and
charitable organisations.

WORKSAFE NEW Zealand
has b en a proached in a bid to
fina ly repair the potholes in New
Brighton’s Hawke St car park.
Coastal-Burw od Ward city
counci lor David East wants
WorkSafe to pre sure the car
park’s private owners into
repairing the potholes which are
a “trip and vehicle” hazard.
WorkSafe chief inspector
a se sment southern Da ren
Handforth said it may be able to
take action under the Health and
Safety at Work Act 2015, “as a
person conducting a busine s or
undertaking.”
Mr Handforth said WorkSafe
is aware of the concerns raised by
Cr East abou the car park.
“WorkSafe has completed
an a se sment visi to the site
and is engaging with the owner
to advise them that it is their
responsibility to manage their
risks a propriately.”
Different parts of the car park
are owned by various people
and the Coastal-Burw od
Community Board recently
wrote to them about its concerns
around health and safety.
Cr East said the bi gest i sue
in the past has b en ge ting in
touch with the landlords and
owners and ge ting them to
agr e to anything. “The board
a preciates that multi-ownership
of the parking space may present
a difficulty in co-ordinating
repair/resurfacing but felt obliged
to pa s these concerns onto you,”
said the le ter.
One reply has b en received so
far from an owner who is wi ling
to discu s the i sue. However, a l
the owners would have to agr e
to undertake work.
Cr East said there had b en
a “number of incidences” in
the car park of people injuring
themselves which had gone
unreported.
“I’ve always though that it
has b en quite amazing that we
haven’t had any serious a cidents
or senior citizens perhaps
tri ping in those potholes and
doing themselve some damage.”
He is confiden the new
a proach wi l bring results.
“I think the WorkSafe
involvement may prove to be the
lever that we are l oking for.”
New bid to fix potholes
THE PAPANUI-I nes
Community Board has taken the
rare step of starting a petition
to figh the city council over
funding.
Signatures are being co lected
in a bid to get funding for a community
facility in Shirley.
It comes after the city council
removed funding for the centre
pla ned for Shirley Rd, near the
intersection with Hi ls Rd. This
was the site of the former community
centre, which was badly
damaged in the February 2,
20 1, earthquake.
The removal o funding
prompted community board
chairwoman Ali Jones to threaten
to stan down, citing it as her “die
in the ditch” project.
Ms Jone said the board’s role
is to represen the community,
and by gathering signatures from
residents, it was fulfi ling that
role.
“One of the roles of a community
board is to represent and act
as advocate for the interests of its
community and this is what we
are doing. The LTP and a nual
plans are a l about lo bying the
council.”
Apartments’
sign-off
this week
• By Sarla Donovan
THE OWNERS of Sumner’s Cave
Rock Apartments ar expecting the
Earthquake Commi sion to sign-off
on a se tlement agr emen this w ek.
Body corporate chairman Mike
White said the group had gone
into mediation with IAG and EQC
on February 20, and signed off
on a deal with IAG on February
2 – coincidenta ly seven years
to the day after the February 2,
20 1, earthquake. However, they
are waiting for EQC to sign the
agr ement.
“Given that EQC actua ly drafted
the agr ement, there’ l be no
problem with them doing that.”
The apartment suffere damage
in the February and June, 20 1,
earthquakes and were demolished in
late 2012. In 2016, IAG’s offer of the
difference betw en indemnity value,
$10 mi lion, and the sum insured,
$16 mi lion, was rejected by the body
corporate.
The mediation agr ement
prevented Mr White from disclosing
the se tlement amount, but he said it
involved the two parties paying “a bit
more money than they’d wanted to
earlier.”
A WOOLSTON butcher proved
to be a cut above the rest in an
international competition.
New World Fe ry Rd butcher
Jeremy Garth and his team, the
Pure South Sharp Blacks, recently
came second a the World
Butchers’ Cha lenge in Northern
Ireland.
It was the firs time Mr Garth
had competed in the cha lenge
and he was “rea ly proud” of
how the team performed.
“We produced some top quality
products and came away
with a g od result so we’re very
ha py,” he said.
The preparation for this year’s
World Butchers’ Cha lenge was
intense as the team members
met in Auckland every two
months for lengthy w ekend
practices.
Mr Garth, who has b en a
butcher for 14 years, said the
competition brought back his
pa sion for the job.
“Doing a l thi stuff and
m eting new people, s eing new
ideas, it just brings that flair
back for you,” he said.
Mr Garth hopes t own a
butcher shop of his own someday
but says for now he wi l focus
on ge ting mor experience
and on the 2020 cha lenge.
“In two years’ time, we’ l be
going back to try and win the
title,” he said.
In the past year, the district
AN U PER Riccarton butcher
has proven himself to be a cut
above his Au sie rivals at an
international competition.
Elite Meats owner Corey
Winder was named in the all
star team a the World Butchers’
Cha lenge in Northern Ireland.
Mr Winder and his team, the
Pure South Sharp Blacks, which
includes W olston butcher
Jeremy Garth, finished second
in the competition.
He said the cha lenge started
as a “transtasman test match”
seven years ago.
The preparation for this
year’s World Butchers’ Challenge
was intense as the team
members met in Auckland
every two months for lengthy
w ekend practices. Mr Winder
said coming second against 1
other countries was a “fantastic”
result.
“To get second behind Ireland
was a huge achievement and to
be ahead of Australia is an
even bi ger thing for us,” he
said.
But Mr Winder admires the
Australian team.
“Those guys over there
[Australia] are on top of their
game, they do a g od job,” he
said.
“And it just showcases that
New Zealand has got some
of the best butchers in the
world,” he said.
