Carol Ann Thompson, 63, of Orient, died<br />

on Nov. 20, <strong>2018</strong>, after a long illness. Born<br />

in Columbus, Ohio, to the late John and<br />

Carrie Ellis, Carol was also preceded in<br />

death by: her daughters, Roseanna Cassady<br />

and Lori Carpenter; her grandmother, Rosemary<br />

Ellis; and her brother, Richard Sheets.<br />

Carol is survived by: her loving husband of<br />

Funeral services were held Nov. 28 at Porter-Tidd Funeral<br />

Home, Mount Sterling. Burial followed at Highlawn Cemetery in<br />

Washington Court House.<br />

ROWLEY<br />

Cynthia Rowley, 60, of Grove City died on Nov. 21, <strong>2018</strong>, at her<br />

residence, surrounded by her family and friends.<br />

She is survived by: her loving husband and best friend of 35<br />

years, Scott; sons, Jason, Andrew and Ryan; granddaughter, Olivia;<br />

siblings, Debbie (Tony) Murry and John (Michelle) Underhill; and<br />

nieces and nephews, Shawn, Sherri, Danielle and Tony Jr. Cynthia<br />

was very close to Taz and Ace, her longtime pets. She was preceded<br />

in death by her parents, Delores and John Underhill.<br />

Cindy was an active mother who attended all of her sons’ sporting<br />

events. She loved nature, animals and going to the beach with<br />

her husband and granddaughter, Olivia, despite a hectic schedule.<br />

She loved her home life and was an immaculate housekeeper, and<br />

she loved preparing meals especially during the holidays. Family<br />

was foremost in her life. The family wishes to thank everyone who<br />

helped with her care in her final days.<br />

A memorial visitation was held Nov. 28 at Community Freewill<br />

Baptist Church, Galloway, followed by a service officiated by Pastor<br />

Jerry Newman. The family was assisted by Rader McDonald Tidd<br />

Funeral Home, West Jefferson. Memorial donations may be made<br />

to Kobacker House.<br />

SHIPLEY<br />

Annette Marie Shipley, 54, of London died on Nov. 21, <strong>2018</strong>, at<br />

<strong>Madison</strong> Health, London. Annette was born on May 14, 1964, in<br />

London, a daughter of Elmer and Victoria (Buchanan) Clifton. She<br />

had been employed at <strong>Madison</strong> Senior Living Community and<br />

<strong>Madison</strong> County Hospital. She also had been a candy striper at Arbors<br />

of London. Annette immensely enjoyed spending time at Myrtle<br />

Beach with her family and being a “mimi” to her grandchildren.<br />

She is survived by: her mother, Vickie Clifton of London; her loving<br />

husband of 33 years, Bob Shipley; loving children, Kevin Shipley<br />

of Galloway, and Brittany (Zachary) Earles, Dalton (Chelsie)<br />

Shipley, all of London; grandchildren, Sophia Shipley, Seth Shipley,<br />

Ayleah Campbell, Hunter Scott Earles, baby Earles, Maizie Shipley;<br />

sisters, Barbara Wiggins-Clifton, and Destiny, Mariana, and<br />

MacKenzie Clifton, all of London; brothers, Jerry (Leane) Clifton of<br />

Galloway and Justin Clifton of London; numerous nieces and<br />

nephews; and many friends. Annette was preceded in death by: her<br />

father; Uncle Richard; maternal grandmother, Ferrell Jean<br />

Hutchinson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Ima<br />

Jean Shipley.<br />

A funeral service was celebrated at Rader-Lynch & Dodds Funeral<br />

Home & Cremation Service, London,<br />

on Nov. 26. An interment service followed<br />

at Range Township Cemetery, Sedalia.<br />

SMITH<br />

Carl Adrian Smith, 81, of West Jefferson<br />

died peacefully at home, surrounded by his<br />

family, on Nov. 21, <strong>2018</strong>. Carl was born in<br />

South Webster, Ohio, to the late Beryl and<br />

Minnie Smith. He retired from the Kroger<br />

Co. in 1999 after 25 years of service.<br />

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded<br />

in death by his brother, Archie B.<br />

Smith. He is survived by: his beloved wife<br />

of 60 years, Dorothy Smith; his children,<br />

Alevia (Glen) Durban of Hilliard, Robin<br />

Quinn of Columbus, Sharon (James) Cordle<br />

of West Jefferson, and Beryl Smith of West<br />

Jefferson; his seven grandchildren and 18<br />

great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin<br />

(Linda) Smith of Xenia, Larry (Kathy) Smith of Centerburg, and<br />

Mike (Susie) Smith of West Jefferson and their families, including<br />

Carl's special nephew, Dwayn Smith; the extended Kammer and<br />

Smith families; and his many friends.<br />

A funeral service was held Nov. 27 at Rader McDonald Tidd Funeral<br />

Home, West Jefferson, with burial following at Hampton<br />

Cemetery, West Jefferson. Memorial contributions be made to<br />

OGLE<br />

Martha Wanetta Ogle, 86, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, died peacefully<br />

on Nov. 25, <strong>2018</strong>, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.<br />

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ned P. Ogle; her parents,<br />

Howard and Famie Norris; and sister, Evelyn (Herman) Kull.<br />

She is survived by: step-children, Julie (John) Smrtnik; grandchildren,<br />

Ethan, Evan and Seth, Charlie (Donna) Ogle, grandchildren<br />

Nathaniel, Natalie and Abigail, Debbie Ogle (Sam Dunlap), and<br />

grandchildren Izzy and Ian; sisters, Annabel (Walt) Spangler,<br />

Naomi (Dorwin) Hay; and brother, Darrell (Janet) Norris.<br />

Martha was born on Feb. 22, 1932, on a farm that she grew up<br />

on, near Ringgold, Ohio. Martha was a dedicated employee at the<br />

Ohio Department of Natural Resources for 30 years. She was an<br />

avid Ohio State fan. She enjoyed boating, crafts, reading, puzzles,<br />

square dancing and the Circleville Pumpkin Show. Martha had a<br />

special fondness for dogs.<br />

Memorial donations may be made to Pickaway County Dog Shelter,<br />

21253 Ringgold Southern Rd., Circleville, OH 43113. A memorial<br />

service was set for Dec. 1 at Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, Mount<br />

Sterling. Burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant Cemetery,<br />

Mount. Sterling.<br />

CRONENWETT<br />

Mary Jane Cronenwett, 102, of London died at her home on Nov.<br />

25, <strong>2018</strong>. Mrs. Cronenwett was born on Nov. 20, 1916, in Winchester,<br />

Ind., a daughter of John and Margaret (Cummings) Williams.<br />

She was a longtime member of Saint Patrick Church and was a<br />

member of the <strong>Madison</strong> County Senior Citizens and Lake Choctaw<br />

Senior Citizens. She had been in partnership with the Calico Mini<br />

Mall in London and had been employed with United Transportation<br />

in Columbus for 45 years.<br />

She is survived by: her daughter, Teresa Shaw of London, with<br />

whom she resided; grandchildren, Gail Miller, Steven Shaw and<br />

Lisa Briskett; five grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren;<br />

nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband,<br />

John Marvin Cronenwett, and son, John Michael<br />

Cronenwett.<br />

A funeral mass was celebrated Nov. 30 at Saint Patrick Church,<br />

London, with Father Michael J. Hinterschied officiating. Mrs. Cronenwett’s<br />

funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rader-Lynch &<br />

Dodds Funeral Home & Cremation Service, London.<br />

BAILEY<br />

Sharon Kay Bailey, 69, of Mount Sterling died on Nov. 26, <strong>2018</strong>.<br />

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, two sisters,<br />

and grandson. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years,<br />

William G Bailey, three sons, 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren,<br />

many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.<br />

Sharon was a hairdresser for more than 35 years and an avid<br />

quilter. She was a volunteer instructor and quilter at the Mount<br />

Sterling Community Center. She was loved by her church family,<br />

community and all who knew her.<br />

Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 2 at Porter-Tidd Funeral<br />

Home, Mount Sterling, where funeral services will take place at 11<br />

a.m. Dec. 3 with Pastor J.D. Bowman officiating. Interment will<br />

follow in Grove City Cemetery.
