The stats are stacked against us, but education
can be a ray of hope in this dark
land. Indeed, it was for me. I used
education to create a sustainable life and to
avoid experiencing life challenges which
come with instability such as homelessness.
The first step on this road was graduating
from high school, then college, and on to
complete my doctoral degree.
Every step of the way I had to work because
I did not have family support to help
while I attended school. I didn’t lose faith
because education was working to create
sustainability and to achieve my goals.
