Spencer was awarded the Legacy of Excellence Scholarship, which is up to $60,000. Suyashi won the Humanitarian Scholarship, which has an average award of $30,000. Both are now firstyear students at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. n Winter Garden Nicholas Samuda of Winter Garden performed with the Capital City Band at Tallahassee Community College. CCB has been an important part of TCC’s arts program for more than two decades. Nicholas is one of 15 students to join the band this year. The group recently performed at the City of Tallahassee Winter Festival and Tallahassee Senior Center. n Et Al St. Luke’s Methodist Women held its 37th annual bazaar/marketplace. Volunteers, crafters, bakers and many hard workers helped to make the event a huge success. Proceeds reached a total of $45,000, all of which will go to missions and charities nationally and internationally. Leftover Christmas crafts were used to decorate the Fisher House Orlando at the VA Medical Center in Lake Nona. Members of the group extend their thanks to everyone for their support and wish all a very joyous holiday season. More than $7,500 in cash and prizes was awarded to the winners of the Fusion Contests at the inaugural FusionFest, a free two-day celebration of Central Florida’s growing diversity. The Fusion Contest winners were selected by a panel of more than 30 judges, professionals and experts drawn from the community and representative of a wide variety of heritages.
