We’ve all been to Town Hall, but you may not be aware it was once the homestead of the founder of GE and the person who was responsible for the landscape architecture also dabbled in public parks, including Central. The former residence of Elihu Thomson is located in the Frederick Law Olmsted Historic District, accurately described by Thor Jourgensen as a “carefully preserved link to Swampscott’s past.” I think you will enjoy his tour of the district, which is home by Gov. Surely one of the most recognizable structures in town is the old depot at the train station, a late 19th-century building that resides on the National Register of Historic Places, and one that will hopefully be making a comeback after years of sitting vacant.
