A techno-economic feasibility report is to<br />
be undertaken by the State Government.<br />
For Vijayawada, Memorandum of<br />
Understanding has been signed by Airports<br />
Authority of India with Government of<br />
Andhra Pradesh to develop the existing<br />
terminal. The State is to acquire 698 acres<br />
of land required for the expansion as per<br />
the standard terms. The State Government<br />
provided the necessary Viability Gap<br />
Funding (VGF) and international flights<br />
have commenced operation from 04<br />
December 2018.<br />
In Tirupati, the new terminal was<br />
inaugurated by the Prime Minister on 22<br />
October 2015. A new apron for parking<br />
for 3 aircraft has been completed. The<br />
existing runway, apron and terminal building<br />
are adequate for commencing international<br />
flights. Expansion of new apron for parking<br />
additional 4 aircraft and isolation bay is<br />
under construction within the available land.<br />
The State Government’s request to<br />
accord the status of ‘Port of Call’ to<br />
Vijayawada and Tirupati airports may be<br />
conceded by including them in existing<br />
bilateral agreements.<br />

examine the feasibility of Metro Rail<br />
facility in Vishakhapatnam and<br />
Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali<br />
Metropolitan Urban Development<br />
Authority within period of one year<br />
from the appointed day and take an<br />
expeditious decision thereon.”<br />
The Government of India is actively considering<br />
proposals for the establishment of the Metro<br />
Rail in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada-<br />
Guntur-Tenali urban area.<br />
Vijayawada Metro Rail Project: 11<br />
Government of India has accorded in-principle<br />
approval for Vijayawada Metro Rail Project at<br />
a cost of Rs. 6769 Crore including land and<br />
R&R cost.<br />
Pre-PIB meeting queries have been answered<br />
and the matter was placed before PIB meeting<br />
for clearance on 20 March 2017. The matter<br />
was returned by Government of India for<br />
resubmission based on the new Metro Rail<br />
Policy.<br />
However, consequent to the returning of the<br />
proposal by Government of India clubbed with<br />
the discharge of the tenders by Delhi Metro Rail<br />
Corporation Ltd. (DMRC), the matter was<br />
