London Police Department<br />

• A London man was stopped for a traffic violation<br />

on Dec. 25 and was subsequently charged with operating<br />

a motor vehicle while impaired and possession of<br />

drugs. He was released with a traffic citation and a misdemeanor<br />

citation for possession of marijuana.<br />

• A London resident reported her vehicle stolen on<br />

Dec. 27. It was found an hour later in Columbus.<br />

• A Columbus woman was arrested for an outstanding<br />

warrant on a protection violation on Dec. 28 in London<br />

after being stopped for a traffic violation. She also<br />

was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments,<br />

falsification, driving under suspension, and driving<br />

without a valid license.<br />

• A Washington Court House man was stopped for a<br />

marked lane violation on Dec. 28 in London. After an<br />

officer administered field sobriety tests, the man was<br />

charged with operating a vehicle while impaired.<br />

• A London woman reported that someone broke into<br />

obituaries<br />

her home on Dec. 29 through a bedroom window. She<br />

said items were moved but nothing was stolen.<br />

• A London man was charged with obstructing justice<br />

on Dec. 29 after an incident at his home.<br />

• A London resident reported a theft of medication<br />

on Dec. 31.<br />

<strong>Madison</strong> County Sheriff’s Office<br />

• A London truck stop customer reported that he was<br />

approached on Jan. 1 to play a card game in the truck<br />

lot. He declined to play but watched as four others did.<br />

He said one of the suspects snatched money out of his<br />

wallet and ran off with it.<br />

• A Washington Court House woman was charged<br />

with theft on Jan. 1 at a Mount Sterling gas station. It<br />

was the second time in two days she had been caught<br />

stealing from the store. She was placed under arrest<br />

and transported to the Reynoldsburg Police Department<br />

on an outstanding warrant.<br />

• A London motel employee reported on Jan. 1 that<br />

an unknown person called the motel, said he was from the corporate<br />

office, and told the employee to take $200 out of the safe and go to<br />

a nearby convenience store to get a money order. The suspect said<br />

he would give the employee $200 in cash and take the money order.<br />

The employee called the motel owner who advised him the call was<br />

not from corporate and not to comply with the request.<br />

• A Mount Sterling man was charged with violation of a protection<br />

order on Jan. 4 in Mount Sterling.<br />

• A Grove City man was charged with driving with an open container<br />

of alcohol in his vehicle on Jan. 5 in Mount Sterling.<br />

• On Jan. 6, a deputy was dispatched to a report of a hit-skip<br />

crash in Plain City. The deputy arrived to find the suspect had returned<br />

to the scene and was talking to the victim. The suspect, a<br />

Plain City man, was arrested for operating a vehicle while under<br />

the influence of alcohol.<br />

CAUDILL<br />

Sharon (Kelley) Caudill, 74, of Mount Sterling died<br />

on Jan. 13, <strong>2019</strong>. She was born in Mount Sterling to<br />

Martin and Analee (Birchfield) Kelley who preceded her<br />

in death. She is survived by: her husband of 56 years,<br />

Dave; two daughters, Lorie (Barry) Adams, Stacie<br />

(Cory) Bachnicki; grandchildren, Amber (Larry) Fleck,<br />

Billijo (Angie) Frazier, Kellie Creager, Devin (Emily)<br />

Morrison, Brooke (Dan) King; nine great-grandchildren;<br />

and a sister, Anita (Dick) Green. She was preceded in<br />

death by a sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Bob) Bacon.<br />

Sharon was a member of Anchor Baptist Church and<br />

retired after 30 years at Calmar. A funeral service was<br />

held Jan. 18 at Anchor Baptist Church, Washington<br />

Court House, with burial following in Bethel Cemetery.<br />

The family was assisted by Porter Tidd Funeral Home,<br />

Mount Sterling.<br />

OLDENBURG<br />

Elmer “Art” Oldenburg, 59, of Columbus died on Jan.<br />

14, <strong>2019</strong>, at his home. He was preceded in death by his<br />

loving mother, Betty, and brothers, Jeff and Gerald. He<br />

is survived by: his father, Elmer;, sister and brother-inlaw,<br />

Penny and Andy Higgins; nephews, Ian and Graham<br />

Higgins; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of<br />

friends, as well as his family at Shasta Group Home.<br />

Funeral services were held Jan. 18 at Mount Sterling<br />

First Church of the Nazarene. Interment followed at<br />

Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling. Memorial contributions<br />

may be made to: Special Olympics Ohio Inc.,<br />

3303 Winchester Pike, Columbus, OH 43232. Funeral<br />

arrangements were under the direction of Porter-Tidd<br />

Funeral Home, Mount Sterling.<br />

ROARK<br />

Harold E. Roark, 92, of London died on Jan. 14, <strong>2019</strong>,<br />

in London. Born on Dec. 17, 1926, in Ashland, Ky., he<br />

was a son of Pearl and Ethel (May) Roark. A United<br />

States Navy veteran of World War II, Harold also served<br />

in the Air National Guard in Springfield and Army National<br />

Guard in London. He retired in 1987 as a stationary<br />

engineer from the London Correctional Institution.<br />

Survivors include: his sons, Harold Roark, Jr. and John<br />

“Fred” Roark (fiancée Kim West); two grandchildren,<br />

five great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Roark, and<br />

sister, Barbara Davis; and several nieces and nephews.<br />

He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Karen<br />

Elaine Roark; grandson, Justin Roark;, brothers, Guy<br />

and Donald Roark; sister, Helen Henson;, sisters-in-law,<br />

Judy and Loretta Roark; and brothers-in-law, Elmer<br />

Henson and Dan Davis. Friends called at Eberle-Fisher<br />

Funeral Home and Crematory, London, on Jan. 17.<br />

SNELL<br />

George Harold Snell, 94, of London died on Jan. 14,<br />

<strong>2019</strong>, in the Bluebird Retirement Community. He was<br />

born in Summit Hill, Ohio, on May 29, 1924, to George<br />

and Ethel (Minor) Snell. Harold was a veteran of the<br />

United States Marine Corps, having served in Guam<br />

and Guadalcanal during World War II. He received the<br />

Purple Heart. He was retired from General Motors after<br />

31 years. He also was a member of London First United<br />

Methodist Church and an avid camper. Harold is survived<br />

by: children, Harold Daniel (Carolyn) Snell, James<br />

Ray (Dorreen) Snell, Bev Ann (Daniel) Eades and Tonya<br />

Marie (Jeffrey) Blain; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren,<br />

four great-great-grandchildren; and several<br />

nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his<br />

wife, Petie (Greed) Snell; sisters, Neva Beatty and Mary<br />

Penrose Addy; and brother, John Snell. A service was<br />

held Jan. 17 at Rader-Lynch & Dodds Funeral Home<br />

and Cremation Services with Rev. Steve Rath officiating.<br />

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions<br />

may be made to: Wounded Warriors, P.O. Box<br />

758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.<br />

WILLIAMS<br />

Luther Spicer Williams Jr. died peacefully at his<br />

home in London on Jan. 10, <strong>2019</strong>. He was born on May<br />

13, 1947, in Baltimore, Md., a son of Luther S. Williams<br />

and Anne (Buck) Williams, both deceased. Survivors include:<br />

his sister, Luanne Williams Dubble (Roger L.) of<br />

Navarre, Fla.; nieces, Deborah D. Flint (Wayne) and<br />

Donna D. Lucier (Robert MacDarmont); nephews, Roger<br />

W. Dubble and John L. Dubble (Robin); great-nephews,<br />

Kyle Flint, Alex Flint, Noah Lucier, Adam Lucier and<br />

Connor Dubble; and great niece, Amber Dubble. Luther<br />

served in the Ohio Air National Guard and was sent to<br />

Korea during the Pueblo Incident. He attended The Ohio<br />

State University and worked at Xerox and Columbia Gas<br />

of Ohio in collections before retiring. Funeral services<br />

were not observed. Memorial contributions may be made<br />

to the giver’s favorite charity. The family was served by<br />

Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home and Crematory, London.<br />
