According to industry experts, January and February can offer big savings for homebuyers. Homes that didn’t sell in the fall often are offered at reduced prices when the mercury drops and house shopping slows. An experienced real estate agent can help guide homebuyers to houses that are competitively priced and those that are real deals. Home sellers who are eager to make a deal might also be willing to consider other concessions such as concessions, such as completing home inspection repairs, including certain appliances in the purchase price and agreeing to a flexible closing date. Then, there’s the savings homebuyers can experience from lower mortgage rates and a longer period of mortgage interest. The Mortgage Bankers Association is predicting that the 30-year fixed mortgage rate could top 5.1 percent in 2019. So acting early in the new could save thousands off the cost of a new home loan. Plus, buying early in the year means a larger deduction come tax time. Though the mortgage interest deduction is limited to the first $750,000 of mortgage debt, homebuyers will appreciate earning every possible penny come April 2020. Another perk of getting a mortgage at the start of the year: competitive pricing. Lenders often offer special financing on new year new home purchases. Homebuyers should seek the advice of their real estate agent or financial planner when seeking the best buys in home loan financing. What about the government shutdown? The key to house hunting this winter is to search with the help of an experienced real estate agent, work with your agent and the home sellers to get the best possible deal and, above all, have patience. An office or dining room is the perfect place to introduce these design elements to add a bit of formality to the space.
