providing psychopedagogical care to children,<br />
adolescents and young people with special<br />
educational needs; develop emotional skills in<br />
elementary and middle school students; to<br />
contribute to the appropriation of a gender<br />
approach in children through work with artistic<br />
manifestations and social communication, to<br />
study empathy in neurodevelopment and to<br />
contribute to the psychosocial development of<br />
children and adolescents, especially those living<br />
in conditions of vulnerability Social.<br />
Research centers such as the Center for<br />
Demographic Studies (CEDEM), the Institute of<br />
Materials Science and Technology (IMRE) and<br />
the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences<br />
(FLACSO-Cuba) also provide important results<br />
that deepen and reveal new knowledge about this<br />
group Population. Aspects of great importance<br />
and pertinence, such as teenage pregnancy and<br />
the role played by the family in the interruption<br />
or development of the family, are investigated in<br />
CEDEM. On the other hand, FLACSO is<br />
involved in the preparation of the first Atlas of<br />
Children and Adolescents in Cuba, together with<br />
the National Bureau of Statistics and Information<br />
(ONEI) and the collaboration of the United<br />
Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Cuba.<br />
From the Natural and Exact Sciences, the<br />
Faculties of Chemistry and Biology coordinate<br />
projects on environmental education from<br />
Chemistry in the early ages and the prevention<br />
and attention of eating disorders with emphasis<br />
on obesity.<br />
College extension<br />
The University Extension is one of the<br />
core processes of higher education in Cuba and<br />
is focused on socio-humanistic training and the<br />
professional preparation of students and teachers;<br />
but also to the improvement and development of<br />
communities and the population in general<br />
(Intranet UH, 2017).<br />
Extension work is developed through<br />
community projects and actions in order to solve<br />
social problems; of course delivery; the<br />
promotion work of the University Honorary<br />
Chairs and the cultural and sports university<br />
facilities; the promotion of the History of Cuba<br />
and the University of Havana; of the<br />
development of integral programs for the<br />
promotion of health; As well as the<br />
dissemination of the life of the university<br />
community in society (Intranet UH, 2017).<br />
The work centers, schools, socio-cultural<br />
projects and the community in general, are<br />
beneficiaries of the university's knowledge,<br />
while it is fed in its exchange and collaboration<br />
with the territories.<br />
The extension work is part of the work<br />
objectives of each area of the UH, according to<br />
the particularities and potentialities of each one<br />
of these. One of the main outputs is the<br />
community actions and projects, which, given<br />
their wide range of actions, have different<br />
objectives, methodologies, target groups,<br />
territorial contexts, intervention spaces, etc.<br />
Community-university interaction is an<br />
educational, dynamic and creative process. The<br />
activities are carried out both in the communities<br />
and on the university campus, with the aim of<br />
bringing children and adolescents closer to the<br />
university context and working on vocational<br />
training, stimulating, from an early age, interest<br />
in the University. An example of this is the<br />
initiative developed by the Faculty of Law as<br />
part of the Ismaelillo Project, where it is possible<br />
to meet children from nearby schools in areas of<br />
the faculty with the aim of instilling values for<br />
the children and increasing their knowledge<br />
