Welcome back to
Sekolah Pelita Bangsa
We had fabulous activities at Sekolah
Pelita Bangsa in term 3 where student
were given myriad opportunities to play,
collaborate and perform at their best
whether during Intramurals, Chinese
New Year Celebration, Buddy Reading
times or Global School Play Day.
Kindergarten students also had
the opportunities to visit some local
community places in our city.
In Term 4, we will celebrate literacy or the
importance of reading in our lives with
“Literacy Week” and “Vocabulary Parade.”
We would encourage our students to love
reading and to keep reading as a source
of enjoyment, self-development and
knowledge for the rest of their lives.
It is disheartening to learn research
data (2016) from the OECD PIAAC
(Organisation for Economic Co-operation
and Development Programme for
International Assessment of Adult
Competencies) that typical Indonesian
adult with university degree, has lower
literacy proficiency than adults in every
other OECD country who only completed
High School. We encourage parents to
also cultivate the love of reading at home
and motivate students to read at home.
