small part of this
wonderful year with
them.
As one of SA’s
leading independent,
co-educational schools,
Kingswood College
welcomes boys and
girls from all over the
world as boarders and
day pupils, from Grade
000 in pre-primary to
Grade 12, including a
bridging year (postmat
ric).
Kingswood boasts
some of the country's
finest academic, music,
boarding and sporting
facilities and its
beautiful, intimate
campus and rich
Methodist tradition
make it more than just
a school to its pupils –
but a home where all
belong.
Re n t A l l is a small
family business in
Grahamstown owned
by Mike and Sue
Webber, and
specialises in tool hire
for DIY and larger
building projects, and
tool sales and repairs.
Rentall also stocks
and supplies a variety
of safety wear
including conti-suits,
safety boots, hard hats,
protective eye-wear,
gloves and reflective
v e st s .
Their wide selection
of accessories for tools
is a section that the
DIY enthusiasts enjoy
browsing through on a
Saturday morning.
Rentall will be
moving within the next
two months to larger
premises at 39
Bathurst Street, where
they will increase their
offering of the wide
variety of tools and
clothing, including a
gardening tool section
and expand on its
welding supplies.
To celebrate the
move, Rentall will be
holding a number of
“open days” with the
support of its suppliers
and will be running a
number of specials, so
watch this space.
“We look forward to
meeting you at the
Bathurst Show where
we will be running
incredible specials on
Makita batteries and
chargers, along with
other items.
“ See you there,”
said Mike Webber.
Jo Soap wa s
established due to a
growing awareness of
how damaging
mainstream toiletries
and household
cleaners are, packaged
in plastic and full of
chemicals which create
havoc with the body’s
endocrine system,
among others.
Having developed a
life-threatening allergy
to sulphites, Jo Styles
realised she had to cut
all products containing
sulphites from her life.
This drastic action
became the impetus to
create natural,
chemical and
preser vative-free
replacements for her
and her family to use.
Jo Soap operates a
circular packaging
system, so purchasers
receive discounts when
jars and tins are
returned for refills.
All packaging is in
glass jars and
aluminium tins, and
some household
cleaning products are
in recycled glass.
Jo Soap is a member
of Sustainable
Sunshine Coast, a
group established to
share information
about local
organisations which
have demonstrated a
commitment to
community upliftment
or the protection of the
environment.
This group also
p r o m ot e s
environmentallyfriendly
products and
local eco-initiatives to
reduce household and
business impact on the
environment.
Wild Hive Honey is a
small husband and
wife beekeeping
operation. Bees are
permanently sited in
the remote wilderness
with as little
interference as
possible from the
outside world.
The honeycomb is
carefully collected,
usually in the
mid-morning when the
impact is least felt.
Uncapping is done
by hand and then
centrifugally spun out
using solar energy at
room temperature. The
honey is sieved no less
than three times and
left to settle, which
allows all the air
bubbles to escape and
small wax particles to
rise to the top, to be
removed. It takes
approximately four
days before bottling
can begin.
Bees also produce
propolis, a powerful
and vital component of
every healthy hive used
to keep the hive clean,
their immune systems
strong and additionally
as a versatile
a n t i s e p t i c / a n t i b i ot i c /
antiviral agent. Wild
Hive Honey only utilise
the surplus propolis
found on the honey
frames, from which
they produce Propolis
Tincture, a powerful
natural remedy with
the same properties.
All waste products
are repurposed such as
the uncapping wax, for
candles, salves and
balms and the
uncapping water, for
ginger beer and honey
and hops ale.
Wild Hive Honey
takes great care and
pride in producing the
finest grade of raw
fynbos honey. Should
you have any queries,
you are most welcome
to contact them.
With the
amalgamation of At l a s
and MultiSecurity
there are some exciting
things to showcase,
and their stand has had
a revamp and a new
look to it.
“At MultiSecurity we
don’t believe in being
average and are
constantly searching
for advances in
technology to better
serve the community
we protect,” said
MultiSecurit y’s Clinton
Millard.
“We will be
showcasing our new
CCTV range of cameras
and access systems.
“What advances are
there in alarm
detectors? We will be
covering the topic of
load-shedding and
what it does to one’s
alarm and what one
can do to assist with it.
Plus, we will be
discussing our teaming
up with Atlas and our
future plans to combat
crime together.
“We will also have
our response teams
around the show
ground keeping an eye
during this time,”
Millard said.
“We all have special
memories of our
experiences when
visiting the Bathurst
Agricultural Show –
whether it be the
animals, the farm
implements, the
vehicles, the festival
crafters, the
entertainment, the food
trucks . . . we are truly
blessed to have this
amazing affair right on
our door-step! Having
grown up on a cattle
farm – I feel at home
when wondering
around the fairgrounds.
Seeing, touching and
smelling the familiar…”
said Louise Hopkins of
Hoppy’s Paddle Inn.
“At Hoppy’s Paddle
Inn we are passionate
about wine, and our
mission is to bring the
fabulous wines of the
Western Cape here for
all to taste and
experience.
“Although we are
serious about wine, we
are also in for the fun
of it, particularly at the
Bathurst Show. You
have to try our wine
slushies. We are
offering a rosé (pink
wine), a stein (white
wine) and a sangria
(red wine with fruit)
and, because we’ll be
in Bathurst, the fruit of
the sangria will be
pineapple.”
In Bathurst village,
just down the road
from the showgrounds,
you can drop in during
your visit to the
Bathurst Agricultural
Show and enjoy
everything that the
countr y’s oldest pub
has on offer, The
Historic Pig and
Whistle Inn.
As always, the week
