Working with Austria<br />

The <strong>Ban</strong> <strong>Ki</strong>-<strong>moon</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> for Global<br />

Citizens is strategically positioned in<br />

Vienna, Austria, which hosts one of the<br />

headquarters of the United Nations<br />

and is home to many international<br />

organizations. Austria is rich in<br />

multilaterally relevant organizations,<br />

can count on strong representation of<br />

Permanent Missions, and is a perfect<br />

location for IOs as well as<br />

quasi-international organizations.<br />

The <strong>Ban</strong> <strong>Ki</strong>-<strong>moon</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> has and will<br />

continue to foster its meaningful<br />

partnerships with the Austrian<br />

Government. The <strong>Centre</strong> share goals<br />

with the Austrian Government of<br />

fostering peace, encouraging dialogue<br />

and the exchange of ideas, improving<br />

education and promoting sustainable<br />

development.<br />

In August <strong>2018</strong>, the <strong>Ban</strong> <strong>Ki</strong>-<strong>moon</strong><br />

<strong>Centre</strong> held its second official Board<br />

Meeting at the margins of the Political<br />

Symposium of European Forum<br />

Alpbach <strong>2018</strong> in Tirol, Austria, and<br />

co-hosted “Development Dialogue on<br />

SDGs and empowerment” with the<br />

Austrian Development Agency (ADA)<br />

featuring H.E. Austria´s Foreign<br />

Minister Karin Kneissl and ADA<br />

Director Martin Ledolter.<br />

Furthermore, Co-chair <strong>Ban</strong> <strong>Ki</strong>-<strong>moon</strong><br />

participated in the “Growth in<br />

Transition” conference hosted by the<br />

Ministry for Sustainability and<br />

Tourism with H.E. Austrian Minister<br />

Elisabeth Köstinger and attended the<br />

kick-off meeting for the “Sounding<br />

Board” of Think Austria, the new<br />

strategic expert group convened by<br />

H.E. Austrian Chancellor Sebastian<br />

Kurz. Furthermore, the <strong>Centre</strong><br />

collaborated with the Austrian<br />

Ministry of Foreign Affairs in hosting a<br />

Political Forum on the multilateral<br />

treaty regime with H.E. Foreign<br />

Minister Karin Kneissl in November<br />

<strong>2018</strong>. Multi-stakeholders from Austria<br />

are closely connected to the work of the<br />

<strong>Centre</strong>.<br />
