Folsom Lake is one of the most popular bodies of
water in Northern California, and is situated within El
Dorado, Placer, and Sacramento counties. At at altitude
of 466 feet the lake contains nearly 11,500 gallons of
water when filled.
The Folsom Dam was constructed on the American
River for flood prevention, power generation, drinking
water and irrigation. The lake is surrounded by a number
of recreational parks, which provide visitors the perfect
opportunity to picnic and play, and has some of the best
freshwater fishing in the state.
