Smart Sponsorship Promotes US Flight
Kenya Airways recently hosted leading lifestyle and travel
journalists – from New York, Texas and Kentucky – who
travelled to Kenya to highlight the airline’s non-stop flight.
Kenya Airways strategically targeted media from different
markets – including print, digital and social media – in the US
to ensure widespread coverage of its Nairobi-to-New York
flight, which is changing the way Americans travel to Kenya
and Africa.
A wide range of media outlets was selected in order to reach
diverse readerships. These titles included Sophisticated Living,
a lifestyle publication read by affluent people in the Midwest;
Fodor’s, one of the leading travel outlets in the US whose
online version is read by over 4.7 million people; and Martha
Stewart Weddings, which covered Kenya as a honeymoon
destination.
Your
Miles!
The Flying Blue frequent flyer programme allows you to earn
Miles for every flight you take with Kenya Airways, Air France,
KLM, Joon, HOP!, Transavia, Aircalin, TAROM, SkyTeam
members, or other airline partners. You can redeem your Miles
to fly with Kenya Airways or upgrade your seats to Business
Class.
There are four membership levels in Flying Blue, and with each qualifying
flight you take, you gain XP (Experience Points). When you first enrol,
you will be awarded Explorer status, which progresses to Silver, Gold and
ultimately Platinum. The more you travel with Kenya Airways or one of
our partner airlines, the higher your level becomes, which results in you
earning more Miles and enjoying more benefits.
Miles can be redeemed for flights to destinations operated by Kenya
Airways or our partner airlines. Go for an upgrade of your seat or pay
for your hotel stay or car rental with Miles. Your accumulated Miles are
valid for life as long as you take an eligible flight at least once every two
years. The total number of Miles credited to your account on Kenya Airways-marketed
flights is based on distance, the booking class earning
percentage, and the Elite bonus earning percentage, if applicable.
Industries Ltd.
Wildlife Works’ eco-factory is one of the small-scale industries
supported by the carbon financing. The factory works with
sustainable materials, such as certified organic, fair-trade cotton
fabrics, and works to FLO International’s Fairtrade Standards.
When it comes to screen printing, the factory uses the best
quality, environmentally friendly screen printing ink.
The whole process is sustainable. For example, finished items
are put in compostable bags, the factory is carbon neutral, and,
whether products are for the international or local market,
clients are given the option to ship via carbon neutral means
through the Kasigau Corridor project.
Through carbon investment, sustainable fashion can have a
tremendous impact on the environment and lives of rural
communities.
