Corelli Ensemble<br />

Now in its 30th year, the Corelli Ensemble’s theme for<br />

2018-19 has been ‘Sussex Composers’. This month’s season<br />

finale features Flint, by Ed Hughes, a celebration of the local<br />

landscape incorporating folksong. Also on the programme is<br />

the popular Holberg Suite by Grieg and <strong>Viva</strong>ldi’s joyful Guitar<br />

Concerto for which the Corellis are welcoming back master<br />

guitar player Paul Gregory.<br />

Brighton Festival. This year’s festival promises<br />

a number of highlights: Early Music vocal<br />

ensemble Stile Antico join with Syrian oud<br />

performer Rihab Azar for Songs of Longing<br />

and Exile (Friday 17th at All Saints Hove), the<br />

ground-breaking Chineke! bring their jazzinspired<br />

programme to the Dome (Thursday<br />

23rd) and Brighton Festival Chorus, with the<br />

Philharmonia Orchestra, perform Tippett’s A<br />

Child of Our Time (Sunday 26th at the Dome.)<br />

Fundraising Concert in aid of the Friends of<br />

<strong>Lewes</strong> Victoria Hospital. An evening of music<br />

and song featuring Julia Bishop, Dirk Campbell,<br />
