My mom could break a bridge if she wanted to. She is the most wonderful person I know. My mom is awesome. I remember when she surprised me with a new dog. I blew up with joy! Whenever I have problems, my mom fixes them. She is one of the strongest people I know. My mom works in the FBI. She’s also a Zumba instructor and more. She works the entire week, and she has her Zumba classes Mondays and Tuesdays. But, she still has time for me and my family. Sometimes I believe she is Wonder Woman. She works for money, so we can do the things we want. My mom could be a mathematician. When I don’t understand my math homework, she can help me. She makes math more fun. She has her master’s degree, and I’m pretty sure she’s done college two times. My mother is my superhero, savior, sun, light and many other amazing things I can’t explain. I love her. Kynnedi Bradley, 10 Belmere You know how one word can have numerous definitions? Take the word “mother” for example. Every person in the world has a different definition of “mother.” Now, the question is how would you define your mother? That is a question that cannot be answered in one word. My mom has several qualities that make her, what I would say, the best mom in the world. The relationship I have with my mom is like peanut butter and jelly — perfect together. She works excessively hard to support our family. My mom does not only teach us right from wrong and the correct morals and values in life, but she also exemplifies all of them. She constantly shows her love for me and my sister, Sarah, equally. One day, I curiously asked her, “If someone told you to save one person, would it be Sarah or me?” “The person who asked would have to take me with the two of you, because I love you both too much to let either one of you go,” my mom replied. Back to the original question, I found my definition of “mother.” She is the one person in your life who will surrender anything, including her life, for you. Sarina Sioson, 14 Waterside I love my mom the most. She’s the best on the coast. A few years ago, my mom discovered she carried a gene that could cause her to have breast cancer, so she decided to have surgery to remove her breasts. It was painful but brave, because she wanted to stay healthy, so she can watch my sister and me grow up. My mom also cares for my sister who has autism, which makes it 10 times harder, but it makes her 10 times stronger as a mom. So, this goes out to my mom. You are my universe, my light in me and the world. Without you I would be a wreck. You are my sunshine. Mom, you are my life. Now, a poem dedicated to you: Mom, roses are red, violets are blue, this is a paragraph I love about you. Your love has never fallen short. You have been my only support. I hope you love my rhyme. She drives me and my five siblings everywhere. We have so many appointments. She shows up to every school and sporting event for each of us. She always, always puts us first. She even has a great boss at work. Her boss gives my mom time off to care for the things we need. It used to be just David, my two brothers and me up until a year ago. My mom heard of three siblings in foster care. She talked about it with us. We made lots of changes to our family, so the three of them could join us. It has been really hard for me. edroom so all four boys would be in one room. My mom says it is organized chaos. She is home with us every night. She tries to help me with homework. I usually get frustrated, but she tries. I volunteer places with my mom. My favorite place to volunteer is Second Harvest Food Bank. We used to go there about once a month, but with all the kids now, it’s been harder to get there. My mom takes us on road trips. She talks to everybody along the way when we stop. She says, “You never know who you might meet by saying hello.” Chris Gatto, 12 Independence My mother is the most incredible, understanding woman I know. She has set so many amazing examples of how to live my life in God’s eyes. My mother is considerate to everyone she encounters, including people she doesn’t know. Her radiant, kind smile can light up an entire room. My mother loves me and all five of my siblings unconditionally. The most amazing part is that my mother has also dedicated all her love and attention to God, our Father, as well, which is why the Lord and I are so close today. My mother has courage to be able to suffer for my family. Especially this year, my family has gone through a lot of pain and suffering, but my mother has gone through the most. She still manages to put food on the table for eight people every day, buy us what we need, and, most importantly, find the time to give us the attention we need. I’m a teen, so that means I struggle with multiple things and often need attention. Luckily, my mother is there when I need her. This amazing, courageous, fearless woman is the reason I am who I am today. My mother has always said to me, “I love you to the moon and back, my little Sophia.” Little does she know, I love her to God and back! Sophia Muscaro, 14 Windermere When you are first born, you look up to see a smiling, loving, caring face. That is your mom. As life goes on, that smiling face will continue to hold, love and care for you. And, no matter how embarrassing our mothers can be, we love them for many reasons. Some reasons I love my mother without end and think she is the best are: I can tell her my secrets, she loves me no matter what, and she is a fabulous role model. My mom is very trustworthy. I can tell her things that I would not dare tell anyone else. If I broke something of my dad’s, I could tell my mom, and she would keep the secret, secret. My mom also loves and forgives me no matter what. I may end up doing something really bad, and even though my mom still gets mad, that does not mean she stops loving me. After a couple of days, she will forgive me, and we will become closer than ever. Additionally, my mom is a stupendous role model. I cannot think of a better person to walk in the footsteps of. Everyone has reasons to love their mom, and these are mine. As you can see, I love my mom, and she is probably the best person I am ever going to meet. I would yell it off a rooftop if it would mean the entire world would get to know. All the more reason, I think my mom is the best in Southwest! Elle Mangin, 11 Meadow Ridge Did you know that my mom is a mother bear who works as hard as a honeybee? Well, Michelle N. Carter (my mom) takes care of me, is loving and is very hardworking. My mom takes me to the doctor’s and dentist’s when I need to go. When I needed to get my first two (yes, two) cavities filled, she took time out of her day to make sure I got there on time. Also, when I need to get my flu shot, she takes me. She makes sure I have what I need to survive, too. She does this by making sure the pantry, fridge and my closet are full. My mom is loving. On my spring break, my mom took me to Defy Orlando with my friends. My mom is hardworking. She works very hard to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for the entire family. She works even harder when people come over. She does everything she has to to take care of the family when my dad is at work. She puts hard work and TLC in everything she does. For these reasons and many, many more, my mom is the bomb! Alexis Carter, 9 Belmere Mom, Mommy or Mama. It doesn’t matter what you call her. You probably love her with all your heart, and you know she would do anything just for you. I say, “Mom,” and I have the best mom in Southwest. First of all, my mom had me at 19. Most 19-year-olds are worried about whether or not they are going to get to a party on time, not what a baby needs to eat! My mom has a nevergive-up attitude. Being 19 with a baby was challenging, but my mom still went to college and got her degree to become a paralegal. Wow, my mother had a very busy life at such a young age, but she still took great care of me. That’s why she’s the best. Furthermore, that 19-year-old is now 31, and instead of that one baby, she now has four. In 12 years, she had three more kids, who are my siblings — Gracie, 8; Eli, 4; and James, 6 months. Four kids is a lot of responsibility, but my mom handles us like a champ. She is loving and caring, but she has a tone of voice that will also set us straight. She has high expectations for my education, because she knows that education is the key to success in life, and she knows I am capable of reaching those expectations. My mom is simply the best. There’s no other mom like her.
