Located only 20km from<br />
Christchurch and with<br />
just over 16,000 residents,<br />
Rolleston is the largest town<br />
in the <strong>Selwyn</strong> district and<br />
is continuing to grow at a<br />
significant pace.<br />
Rolleston is situated either<br />
side of a busy State Highway<br />
One either heading north<br />
to Christchurch or south to<br />
Ashburton. Nearby roadworks<br />
with a complex array of<br />
off-ramps and over bridges<br />
are part of the motorway<br />
extension to connect the town<br />
with central Christchurch<br />
which are expected to be<br />
completed by the end of the<br />
year.<br />
As with many new towns, the<br />
face of Rolleston has changed<br />
significantly over the years. As<br />
the population increases so<br />
does the number of facilities,<br />
shopping choices and schools.<br />
The Rolleston Community<br />
Centre co-ordinates and hosts<br />
a wide range of recreation<br />
programmes for all ages.<br />
From Baby Gym to Roller<br />
Skating, Tai Chi, Spin, Yoga and<br />
Zumba. The centre also has<br />
a variety of affordable venue<br />
spaces for hire for indoor<br />
sporting fixtures, weddings,<br />
community meetings and<br />
more. The Rolleston Library<br />
is co-located in the same<br />
building. Library membership<br />
is free for all residents and<br />
ratepayers and allows them<br />
to borrow items and use<br />
eResources online. The library<br />
runs weekly programmes and<br />
regular events for residents of<br />
all ages.<br />
The <strong>Selwyn</strong> Aquatic Centre has<br />
four pools; a 25m pool with<br />
eight lanes, a hydrotherapy<br />
pool with attached spa, a<br />
learn-to-swim pool and a<br />
leisure pool with a lazy river<br />
and toddlers area.<br />
