Griffin, Matthew
Matthew Griffin is an architect, curator,
artist, programmer, project developer,
urban planner and co-founder of Deadline
Architects. He studied architecture at
McGill University in Montreal and the
Architectural Association in London. Matthew
Griffin is co-founder of the gallery
URBAN Issue and the blog LocallyGrown-
City.net and has been involved in various
initiatives – including TeamEleven and
Stadt Neudenken.
Matthew Griffin ist Architekt, Kurator,
Künstler, Programmierer, Projektentwickler,
Stadtplaner und Mitbegründer von Deadline
Architekten. Er studierte Architektur
an der McGill University in Montreal und

Hansen, Simikka
Simikka Hansen is a Berlin-based city planner
with an interest in sustainable mobility.
With a background in city planning and
communication from Roskilde University
in Denmark, she focuses on how transport
planning affects the public space in cities
around the world. Recently, amongst other
organisations, she has worked for the German
cycling federation ADFC advocating
for cycling in Berlin.
Simikka Hansen ist eine Berliner Stadtplanerin,
die sich für nachhaltige Mobilität
interessiert. Mit einer Ausbildung in
Stadt planung und Kommunikation an der
Ros kilde Universität in Dänemark konzentriert
sie sich auf die Auswirkungen der
Verkehrsplanung auf den öffentlichen Raum
in Städten auf der ganzen Welt. Kürzlich
arbeitete sie für den Allgemeinen Deutschen
Fahrrad-Club, um den Radverkehr
in Berlin zu fördern.
Hofmann, Susanne
Susanne Hofmann is an architect, professor
and founder of the Berlin-based architectural
office Baupiloten BDA. She studied
architecture at the Technical University
of Munich, the Architectural Association
School of Architecture in London as well
as the Technical University of Berlin. In
2013 was the recipient of a Villa Massimo
scholarship. She has taught as a visiting
professor in London, Melbourne and Sheffield.
In 2014 she published the handbook
“Partizipation Macht Architektur”.
Susanne Hofmann ist Architektin, Professorin
und Inhaberin des Berliner Architekturbüros
die Baupiloten BDA. Sie studierte
Architektur an der Technischen Universität
München und an der Architectural Associa-
tion School of Architecture in London sowie
an der TU Berlin. 2013 war sie Stipendiatin
der Villa Massimo. Als Gastprofessorin
unterrichtete sie unter anderem in London,
Melbourne und Sheffield. 2014 erschien

Hunchuck, Elise
Elise Hunchuck is a Berlin-based independent
researcher, designer and editor with
an academic background in landscape
architecture and philosophy. Her research
develops cartographic, photographic and
text-based practices to explore and communicate
the agency of disasters through
continually configuring and reconfiguring
infrastructures of risk. Elise Hunchuck has
taught at the University of Toronto, she is a
2019 Azrieli Visiting Critic at Carleton University’s
Azrieli School of Architecture and
Urbanism and a member of the editorial
board of Scapegoat Journal: Architecture
| Landscape | Political Economy.
Elise Hunchuck ist eine unabhängige
Forscherin, Designerin und Editorin mit
einem Universitätsabschluss in Landschaftsarchitektur
und Philosophie. Ihre Forschung
entwickelt kartografische, fotografische
und textbasierte Praktiken zur Erforschung

Jessen, Nadine
Nadine Jessen has worked as a dramaturge
and curator at Kampnagel since 2007,
including a short tenure at the Vienna Festival
in 2017. She initiates and realises spaces
and projects in various constellations,
including Hamamness (with Jens Dietrich),
Akademie des Verlernens (with Johannes
Maile) and Migrantpolitan (with Larry Macaulay),
and she founded the independent
media group New Media Socialism (with
Judith Rau).
Nadine Jessen arbeitet seit 2007 als
Dramaturgin und Kuratorin für Kampnagel
mit einem kurzen Ausflug an die Wiener
Festwochen 2017. Sie initiiert und realisiert
Räume und Projekte in unterschiedlichen
Konstellationen: Hamamness (mit Jens
Dietrich), Akademie des Verlernens (mit
Johannes Maile), Migrantpolitan (mit Larry
Macaulay). Sie ist die Gründerin der freien
Mediengruppe New Media Socialism (mit
Judith Rau).
Jürgens, Britta
Britta Jürgens is an architect and co-founder
of Deadline Architects. After studying
architecture at Technical University of Berlin,
she worked in Melbourne for Norman
Day Architects and in London for Alsop &
Lyall Architects. The “self-made city” has
been the focus of Jürgen’s work ever since,
both in the context of initiatives such as the
URBAN issue gallery, and with her own project
developments including the current
Frizz23 industrial building group project.
Britta Jürgens ist Architektin und Mitgründerin

dem Architekturstudium an der TU Berlin
arbeitete sie in Melbourne bei Norman Day
Architects und in London bei Alsop & Lyall
Architects. Die „selbst gemachte Stadt“ ist
seither der Fokus von Jürgens‘ Arbeit sowohl
im Rahmen von Initiativen, wie der Galerie
URBAN Issue, als auch mit eigenen Projektentwicklungen,

Kaufmann, Hermann
Hermann Kaufmann is an architect. The
central theme of his work is the search
for comprehensive answers to the topics
of sustainability in building and the
exploration of the possibilities of modern
wood construction. Together with Christian
Lenz, he founded the architectural office of
HK Architects in Schwarzach, Austria,
in 1983. Since 2002, he has been professor
at the Department of Design and Wood
Construction at the Technical University
of Munich.
Hermann Kaufmann ist Architekt und Professor.
Zentrale Themen in seinen Arbeiten
sind die Suche nach umfassenden Antworten
zu den Themen Nachhaltigkeit des
Bauens und das Ausloten der Möglichkeiten
des modernen Holzbaus. 1983 gründete
er das Architekturbüro HK Architekten gemeinsam
mit Christian Lenz in Schwarzach,
Österreich. Seit 2002 ist er Professor am
Lehrstuhl für Entwerfen und Holzbau an der
Technischen Universität München.
Klerk, Eva de
Eva de Klerk is a cultural entrepreneur,
independent expert on participative urban
development and the engine behind the
self-organised Art City / NDSM shipyard
in northern Amsterdam. Together with
100 companies, shipyards, developers,
gastronomy companies and cultural entrepreneurs,
she founded NDSM Energie –
a cooperative for renewable energy. Eva
is the author of the book “Make Your City:
De Stad als Casco / The City as a Shell”,
published by Trancity.
