THE NIGHTLIFE
FIVE OF THE BEST
VENUES WITH A TWIST
In the mood for a different experience? These nightspots have you covered
2. Not just a theatre venue and
much more than a club, MusicHall
Dubai (taxi: Jumeirah Zabeel Saray
Hotel, Palm Jumeirah, +971 4 447
6646) is an eclectic fusion of art,
cuisine and dance, all rolled into
one. From rock to reggae and jazz
to salsa, no two nights are ever the
same with its impressive roster of live
world music acts.
1. Speakeasys have never really
worked in Dubai before because,
well, not enough people could find
them. Poppy (taxi: Renaissance
Downtown, poppy-dubai.com) from
David Myers seems to have bucked
that trend. You’ll have to ask the staff
to help you find it, but when you do
we promise it’s worth the hunt.
3. How deep can you go? Dive
seven metres down and discover
the blazing underworld of The Hatch
(taxi: Port Rashid, +971 50 375 9715);
QE2's boiler room turned party cave.
Luring night owls with its enigmatic
mystique, it's a novel setting for an
evening full of high jinks.
4. It’s hard to describe what Wavehouse (taxi: Atlantis, The Palm,
+971 4 426 1166) actually is. Indoor and outdoor spaces house a
restaurant, arcade machines, bowling lanes, a wave rider and other
family-friendly activities. But yes, it also has an adult-only bar, and it’s
decent. Fuel up for a night of live music and fun on tap.
5. Located on the 44 th floor of the Hilton
Dubai Al Habtoor City and decked out like
an American diner, The 44 (taxi: Habtoor
City, +971 54 5811 758) has dart boards, pool
tables, a pinball machine and the world's
highest bowling alley in the world.
