“It gives employees a chance to interact with
people they don’t know very well,” said Chief
Talent Enrichment Officer Monica Steffeck.
While there is time to relax and enjoy the
time away from home, the company does get
down to business with the annual meeting held
from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
Along with poring over the businesses’ highs
and lows from the previous year, new initiatives
are announced. In fact, the company usually
waits to make big announcements at the annual
meeting, Steffeck said.
To lighten up this year’s meeting held in
March, some information was presented similar
to a Saturday Night Live newscast.
“It’s funny to laugh at coworkers rather than
sit in a boring meeting,” Steffeck said.
After the meeting wraps up, attendees are
given a chance to explore the area before being
treated to dinner and live band at the hotel on
Saturday night.
The retreat opens up communication
between coworkers who may not have a lot of
interaction with each other at the office.
“We feel like we know each other better at
the end of the weekend and recognize each
other in the halls,” Steffeck said. n
