Cobras roar into town,
chance to take fast ride
On June 22, the Cobras will roar into
London in the annual parade of Cobras.
The cars will take off at 9 a.m. from the
Speedway gas station on U.S. Route 42 near
I-70 and arrive in downtown London shortly
after 9:15 a.m., driving in on North Main
Street.
Once in town, the Cobras will be parked
until 3 p.m. on Main Street between Fourth
and Fifth streets and along Fourth Street
between Oak and Union streets. The public
is invited to view the Cobras and visit the
many automotive related vendors that will
have products on display.
For a $10 donation to the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation, anyone can take a Cobra ride
down Main Street at speeds faster than the
speed limit, all with the approval of the London
Police Department.
Each year, the Ohio Cobra Club, a nonprofit
organization, sponsors the London
Cobra Show along with a Cobra sports car
raffle as a means of raising money for research
into developing medicines to fight
Cystic Fibrosis. Raffle tickets for the car can
be purchased at the Ohio Cobra Club’s
booth on June 22.
Last year, the Ohio Cobra Club donated
$104,500 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Since 2000, the club has donated a total of
$1,333,000 to the organization.
The club also makes donations each year
to various London and Madison County
agencies in appreciation of the community’s
support. Last year, the club gave $5,000
each to the London fire department, London
police department, and Madison County
Emergency Medical District, as well as
$2,500 each to the Madison County Deputy
Sheriffs Association and Madison County
DARE program.
