My work is vibrant and colourful, and deeply influenced by nature. I love trees and woodland, and the wonderful shapes the bare
branches make in winter. I paint the Cornish coast and countryside in an expressive and emotive style using acrylic Inks. Different
textures allow me to create ‘lost and found’ edges which in turn help to create atmosphere in my paintings. I look forward to
meeting and welcoming you, and hope you enjoy all the work on show at the Tamar Valley Centre.
Landscapes where open spaces and the remnants of our Industrial past are woven
into dramatic areas of moorland, and the coast are inspirational to everything I do.
Representative contrasted with semi-abstract are key to my approach.
I take inspiration from the natural environment of the Tamar Valley. Exploring and
photographing things of interest: collecting, focusing more closely on individual leaves
and details of foliage. I enjoy experimenting with glazes, oxides and lustres to enhance the variety of clay bodies. I design and make
a variety of leaf sculptures, tiles and vases.
