There’s a reason why hotels only use white linen – it keeps a room really fresh and crisp. Plus, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to buying a new set. 2 Make sure that your duvet extends over your mattress until it’s almost touching the floor on both sides. You shouldn’t actually be able to see the bed frame – it looks more plush and luxurious this way. It’s also a great solution if you have a spouse who hogs the duvet. 3 A high pile rug brings a sense of luxury to the room and feels great under foot when you wake. It should cover at least half the length of the bed and protrude outwards from the base. 4 We tend to keep a lot of stuff on our side table, so always try to select a table lamp that has a base with a small diameter. This way, you won’t clutter it up. The height should be as close to the bed frame as possible so things are within easy reach. 5 Some people like shelves above their bed, but you should always avoid hanging anything heavy over your head. If you want to display objects, get a headboard with built-in shelves.
