Crawford Preparatory Italia
In the Atelier at
Crawford Italia, pupils
have the opportunity to
let their creative juices
flow. The Grade 3s
used the four seasons
as inspiration for a
Seasoned Tree artwork,
using permanent
markers and pastels to
imitate the colours at
the different times of
the year.
Mr. Christopher Vale, the Voice Teacher, is hard
at work rehearsing to stage a Choir performance
at Crawford Italia. The members helped select
the music they'll perform in the near future. Mr.
Vale, a renowned baritone himself, is instilling a
love of music and the discipline required to be a
successful singer and choir.

Crawford Preparatory La Lucia
Crawford Preparatory La Lucia student Obed Ephraim
performed at the 2019 Durban Drum Day. This event
featured the very best drummers from KwaZulu-Natal and
Obed performed alongside a number of highly acclaimed
and well-established musicians. From the first note,
Obed’s hard work and talent shone through and he gave
a stellar performance, receiving rousing applause from the
audience in attendance. Well done, Obed!

Crawford Preparatory
La Lucia pupil Xizhi
Aiden Luo was placed
third in his age group
in the Henle Music
Competition. Pianists
from all over the world
participated in this
online competition.
Xizhi Aiden was
also selected to
play alongside the
Philharmonic Orchestra
this year, an outstanding
achievement for such a
young lad.
Crawford Preparatory Lonehill Crawford Preparatory
Lonehill is proud to
congratulate our very
own Puja Mistry on
receiving a prestigious
award from the Trinity
Guildhall Speech and
Drama exams. The
Trinity Exam is an
international exam
where participants
have to perform three
different performance
items as well as convey their dramatic theory
understanding. Puja completed her Grade 5 exam
in June 2018. Each year, Exhibition Awards are
awarded to the candidate with the highest mark
in the country, for Grades 5 to the Advanced
Performance Certificate. We are delighted that
Puja received this incredible award!
Crawford Preparatory Lonehill
Crawford Preparatory Lonehill’s
Mia Busansky competed at
the Gauteng semi-finals and
then the national finals of the
South African Championships of
Performing Arts held in March
and April at the Rustenburg
Civic Centre. Approximately
15 000 semi-finalists audition and
only 3 000 contestants qualify for
the National Championships of
Performing Arts.
Mia participated in Acting and received five Gold Medals:
Gold: Acting Trio 1. Bronze: Acting Trio 2. Acting Small
Group 2: Mia qualified for Team South Africa 2019 which
allows her to compete in the World Championships of the
Performing Arts later this year if she so chooses to. Well
done, Mia!
