AS we’re becoming increasingly more conscious of<br />
our environment and the effect that we have on it, it’s<br />
no surprise that we are seeking more natural, organic<br />
designs to fill our homes. In the spirit of recycling,<br />
there’s also an element of what goes around comes<br />
around, and a much-loved trend from decades past is<br />
seeing a resurgence in our homes for <strong>2019</strong>.<br />
Rattan and wicker was a huge hit in the 70s and one<br />
that lasted a good decade - remember the iconic peacock<br />
chair which kickstarted the trend? And after years of<br />
being relegated to conservatory and outdoor furniture,<br />
rattan is back on the interior it-list.<br />
Craftsmanship as a whole has been a key trend of<br />
<strong>2019</strong> and this iteration forgoes those synthetic rattans<br />
we’ve become used to in favour of embracing natural<br />
materials and weaves.<br />
In its natural, organic state rattan works wonders with<br />
neutral or earthy tones, and pairs perfectly with other<br />
natural materials such as linen, wood and stone to create<br />
a calming decor scheme.<br />
