MASSIVE LAND DEAL
AN 80-year-old woman
suffered just minor injuries
after her car turned
over on a Torrevieja road
last Friday night.
The incident happened
at the junction of Calle
Orihuela and the Ricardo
Lafuente roundabout at
11.15pm, after the driver
SAN FULGENCIO´S local police
made an unusual seizure recently,
as they took away three adult
Greek Turtles from a property in
the municipality.
The turtles are a protected and
endangered species, and are found
across southern Spain and North Africa.
lost control of her car, which
then lit a lamppost, and then
overturned.
The carriageway heading
They can live up to an average of
125 years, with some unconfirmed
reports suggesting that 200 years has
been achieved.
The turtles are being looked after
by a vet at the Species Recovery Centre
at Santa Faz in Alicante.
THE TORREVIEJA-BASED TM Real
Estate Group has spent 30 million
euros on buying a third of the last
large available area of land available
for property development in the city.
TM has bagged part of the old farmland
at La Hoya between the San Luis-El
Chaparral urbanisation and the
N-332, with the company planning to
building two thousand homes.
La Hoya has the capacity for 7,490
properties on an area of nearly two million
square metres, and is the largest
piece of developable land in Alicante
Province.
Despite approval for the land to be
built on a decade ago by the Valencian
government, nothing has happened
due to the recession as well as a whole
series of legal hitches and changes, including
an environmental impact study
concerning the adjoining natural park.
TM had hoped to start building work
earlier this year, but final changes
need to be made in regard to environmental
issues to satisfy Valencian government
rules.
