Newborn found in bin
A MAN scavenging rubbish
container bins in Alicante
City was shocked to
discover the corpse of a
newborn baby in one, and
immediately contacted the
authorities.
The sad find was made in the
Pla neighbourhood on Monday
and several National Police officers
attended the scene.
The baby still had its umbilical
cord attached and had
probably been dead for a few
hours said a spokesman.

spree
TWO MEN who stole perfumes
and sunglasses
worth 37 thousand euros
from an Alicante-Elche
airport shop have been
arrested by the Guardia
Civil.
The Lithuanians, aged 29
and 31, targeted the store
and stole from it twice, helping
themselves to 225 bottles
of perfume worth 28 thousand
euros, and then returning
another day to take 35
sunglasses valued at nearly
nine thousand euros.
The crooks would buy
cheap air tickets online using
fake identities and different
bank cards, and once they
had printed out the boarding
cards, they would cancel the
trip to get a refund.

to the “airside” area of

wanted to steal from.
Guardia officers ploughed
through video footage to confirm
that it was the same
duo that had struck on both
occasions, and they saw
them drive away from the
airport each time after their
plunder.
The Guardia launched an
operation over several evenings,
based on the time of
the two occasions that the
men had struck before, and
eventually they popped up
again to presumably do some
more stealing.
They were detained, with
one of them being the subject
of a European Arrest Warrant
issued against him by
Austrian authorities.
